Your point our loan players is a good one Wilksy, we could definitely do with converting some of these to our permanent ranks as part of our close season transfer strategy. Unfortunately I fear whether Wellbeck will be an option and he will be missed.
Still think SAF will be tempted if the monies right for Welbeck, he is well down the pecking order at Utd. That little pea looks better every time I see him.
You could be right Mackems Rule. Fergie is well capable of positioning himself to gain maximum advantage from any subsequent negotiation. A lot will also depend on Welbeck of course. If he was guaranteed first team football at Old Trafford then of course there would be no contest. But he isn't even guaranteed a place on the bench. He may well push for a move on that basis and we would be well placed to take advantage. A lot can happen between now and the start of next season that might have a bearing on who comes and goes of course. But I think we'd all unreservedly welcome the lad into the ranks permanently if the option came around. Not a position many adopted at the beginning of the season when Bruce brought him in on loan. I, like many others, thought it wrong initially that he effectively displaced Waghorn! amazing how opinions can be shifted.
Just read this thread all the way through and it's very interesting, well done guys, just what this forum is all about. I would like to see the club at least make an attempt at signing Welbeck in the closed season. Of course, there may also be the option of another season on loan here, probably with a recall agreement, if United are going to let Owen go. Another one that is a must is Nedum Onuoha who has been excellent for us this season. The surprise of the season for me has to be the form of Phil Bardsley at left back. Yes, he had a bad game against the mags at the SOL, but then so did the whole team! Short list candidate for player of the season IMHO.
Cheers Dorset. It feels to me like the level of debate has moved up a notch or two since our migration from 606 - long may it continue! As for Phil MacBardo definitely most improved player in the squad this season - unquestionably.
Without question Blackcat. I had a look at 606 yesterday and it was full of idiots posting all sorts of rubbish. RIP 606. This site is just going to grow and grow as word spreads. Particularly, now all clubs have mods and the addition of the swearing button too. Exciting times ahead for the team and not606 I think!
