Good film that, what's is name Powell ( see I'm not the memory man ) got the look of the hunted man perfect
Well you remembered other things about it. My most abiding memory was the problems trying to get a pint in the usual haunts before the game. At least the police didn't try and close the pubs then even though there was a lot more going on than nowadays.
Motson's best comment when Man Utd won the cup when Martin Buchan was captain "how fitting it is that a man called Buchan should be walking up the 39 steps at Wembley to collect the cup". He must have thought he would never get the chance to utter that one.
There was far more trouble at the Pre season friendly, we had to fight our way out of Yorkshire man after they started chucking glasses across the pub, mind one City fan starting smashing all the windows at their end off the pub, that kept them pinned in til we made our escape. There were fights all over town before the game, it was like a frigging war zone
Step one to find a girl to love Step two she falls in love with you Step three you kiss and hold her tightly...
Went in Parkers before Man Utd game. Tony Banham, the FC player, was on the door. A bus full of Man Utd fans stopped in traffic and they all piled off. Banham who always seemed to know who would cause trouble and who wouldn't and had let quite a few Man Utd fans in held his hand up and told them they couldn't come in. One gobby one at the front said there was a bus full of them and he couldn't stop them all. Banham replied that may well be right but he wouldn't like to be one of the first half dozen that tried. After a bit of them looking at each other and the ones at the back trying to push the others forward they departed with their tails between their legs. Saw him do something similar with Sunderland fans once as well.
According to SSN this morning, we are now on Sky Sports 3 and Newcastle are on Sky Sports 1. Charming
Before last night's game, Sky's plan was to present from Stamford Bridge as they didn't want to be at the wrong ground for the relegation - that decision now looks silly when that game only has a trophy presentation happening.
Premier League games live on Sky this Sunday (Changed): Newcastle v West Ham (Sky Sports 1 – coverage beginning 2pm) Hull v Manchester United (Sky Sports 3 – coverage beginning 2.55pm)
To confirm some inside bits I have... Sky have swapped our games after Sunderland became "safe". Since it's now a straight shoot out and not three ways, Sky are presenting from St James' Park now instead of Stamford Briddge (it gives me the impression they're expecting them to go down). Sky have also swapped Niall Quinn into commentary (instead of Davie Provan) for that Newcastle Vs West Ham game. These details changed this morning and could hangs again. So yeah, we're now on SS3.
Anyone know why there has been a distinct lack of grown men wearing Tiger skin outfits lately? I haven't seen one for ages. Is there a reason ?
