Would that not intrude somewhat on Les Reed's role? I would've thought so. Reed is very much taking up many roles found in the job spec of a DoF, and has a title to avoid being called a DoF perhaps due to the negative connotations?

Absolute nonsense! I'm amazed some Saints fans think he will come back.
He relegated us in 2005, has Pompey connections, hasn't actually achieved much in 30 years of management apart from an FA Cup win (which the lack of funding to achieve it killed Pompey) and Champions League qualification at Spurs which was done from huge levels of spending. Appointing him again would alienate the fanbase and undermine Adkins' position.
Putting aside, Saints already have someone in a "Director of Football" type role...

With Reed advising Cortese on the football side of things, the management structure at the club has seen back to back promotions to the Premier League, achieving the highest marks of category one clubs in the EPPP audit and a £15 million upgrade of the training ground. Les Reed is doing perfectly well, so no need to appoint a dinosaur like Harry to alienate the fanbase and undermine Adkins.
Isn't Les Reed effectively our DoF? The DoF is there as the continuity man who keeps the long-term projects in check even as managers come and go. Sounds like nonsense to me. Until Les Reed retires, we won't replace him. Cortese and Redknapp may be friendly on a personal level, but professionally it would never work in a million years. Lazy journalism.
Do not want Arry or Hoddle to be honest if either come in, in a managerial roll I would really have to seriosly consider whether to renew my ST next season. When Arry was here last time I lost interest all though it was too late about the season ticket. Not good discussion point for me in all honesty............

Redknapp will never move from his house in Poole regardless so this would be a great move for him , for Adkins it would spell the end as it would completely undermine him , for Cortese he would have to bite his tongue and let Redknapp get on with and spend the money as he would in way or the other .
Do not know whether I am happy or not though as morally it stinks but at least we will give ourselves a far far far better chance of surviving .
