Hi past record Purley is abysmal. Ok, Fellaini has proved a bad buy, but he could have been bought for 4 mill less, had Woodward acted at the right time. Then he missed out on other last august. That sort of incompetence doesn't create much hope. The guy is a Glazier yes man, nothing more, nothing less

Whilst I do believe Woodward had issues last year, how do we know that it wasn't Moyes who was dithering over Fellaini?

I think this deal might still happen if Juve are keen on Hernandez. Vidal's knee is a worry though. Hardly encouraging to hear his current club say his knee needs to be managed. The PL will put it to the test a hell of a lot more than Serie A.

I don't even think we've made an offer for him and I doubt we will. Juve said there has been no offers.

The bloke hasn't finished a game since March and only yesterday Morati was saying they need to "manage" his knee problems. **** that.

This one isn't happening. Pretty certain of it.

Reckon we should add De Jong to Blind and then go for Strootman in January or summer.

Agreed. It is not going to happen. And I think LVG was hesitant anyway because of the injury. We certainly don't want another ****ing Hargreaves <ok>

Played yesterday. Did well. Completed 85 minutes.

Every chance we make a move for him tomorrow.

He also waved to the crowd as he left the pitch. Final goodbyes? Maybe the reason he was subbed off so late. So he could do that.

A bit of optimism there I think. There's no reason this transfer should be happening on deadline day. Except possibly for the incompetence of that idiot in charge.

Every reason its taken til tomorrow. Dodgy knees and hes played less than a game and a half since the world cup.

So hes ****ed nothing up on this one.

He would be a great signing, but that requires ground work, regardless of his injury. Then again, rumours were that we'd put in a £40m bid for him 3 weeks ago regardless of the injury. If so, then we should have concluded the matter earlier. If not, then why not? An injury at the end of last season just doesn't sound like enough of a reason to leave it to the last day. What would have happened if he hadn't recovered by deadline day, would we have signed nobody? That's a ridiculous position to be in. And if this injury was enough to scupper a deal, it must have been thought a long term problem surely, so why would a recovery now suddenly change that, as it will recur again. If it isn't a long term concern, then why hold up the signing. It just doesn't square up, and after hearing about the Rojo debacle that seems to be unfolding along with what happened last summer, I think the evidence points to how I feel.

I hope you're right, he is the one player I'd like us to sign, but I think this is another false dawn. I expect we'll probably sign Blind and that's about it.

So it looks like we offered £30m for Vidal and they told us to take running jump. Which means we still haven't properly addressed our biggest and longest running problem i.e. the midfield. What was our Plan B? Nothing obviously bcos there's no other midfielders being linked. These days, the Prem alone is a squad game, if you want top 4. The injury to Herrera and the performances that followed show we still don't have enough decent midfoelders. As a club we continue to show how incompetent we are in the transfer window.

And watch as the reputation Di Maria has gets dragged through the dirt, through no real fault of his own....just like Mata and Kagawa before him. That will happen bcos unrealistic expectations will be placed upon him to solve underlying issues in midfield that 5 years on still haven't been addressed.

Herrera Vidal Di Maria would be an excellent trio

For the billionth time so far...

Weve signed 3 midfielders. A dm, a number and and a versatile world class lcm/winger.

Vidal woyld have been epic but come on man, how can yiu complain at that?

It's not about number mate, it's about quality for the position needed. Di Maria is never going to pull the strings. He offers pace and the attacking potency to run at defences. But a playmaker, a box to box, or defensive minded midfielder he is not. Individually neither Herrera or Blind are strong enough or versatile enough to protect our defence or be that playmaker. Together they may work but that's yet to be proved and what happens if one is injured? What we needed was to sign a proper midfield general or a marquee playmaker. That would have allowed for our lack of depth in quality for the CM. But these two are not enough to cover that I'm afraid.
