    Slightly optimistic there i feel.

I think it comes down to the fact of, we are not that far away from being a very good team, a well run club, and we all want that extra step, but taking it is a big ask.

Fair points. Probably I meant 'many' not 'any' about Gyan.

IMHO people really have very short memories, or maybe a lot of contributors are too young to know what it used to be like. I remember the dark days of McMenemy and Butcher. I remember having to sell Ally McCoist. I remember Denis Smith wanting to buy a young virtually unknown player called John Aldridge for £75k from Oxford, and the chairman not sanctioning it. I remember players such as Seamus Mcdonagh, Steve Berry, Gareth Hall amongst others, who were nowhere near the footballers we have in the squad today. Who would prefer to see Billy Whitehurst or Colin West up front instead of Gyan for instance?

So maybe all that experience is my reason for feeling optimistic. As you say, we ARE a well run club, with a passionate chairman and a great owner, who care as much as we do about taking that next step, but aren't prepared to bankrupt the club or make us a laughing stock in the process. Unlike some we could mention. Let's just enjoy it at least till the season starts and we have some proper games and performances to discuss.
