In Europe, Chelsea are better supported than Liverpool. They have a lot of interest from fickle glory-hunters around the continent. Liverpool's enormous fanbase in Asia makes them far bigger worldwide. I imagine in a ranking for the entire world, United and Liverpool would be top 2. Now stop dodging facts when they're right there in front of you.

There's a Southampton supporters club in The Gambia. That means nothing. You're presenting your own observations and "estimates" whereas I'm presenting studies and facts.

I am not dodging any facts you are suiting yourself , and I would also contend those figures but say you are correct that bares no relevance to the World support of the teams and the competition would be beamed Worldwide as the ChampionsLeague is so God knows why you used that as an example , poissibly because you thought it may help you win a discussion ?

No you have copied and pasted something thats spurious and also not complete as find one of the Worldwide fans ? Go on and then your argument will be shot , I dont need to , you have been selective , do you think Zenit has more fans than Liverpool , Inter , AC ?

    The reason I haven't posted a worldwide one is that I haven't found a top 20, but here is a top 13 that doesn't include Celtic: http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine...-liverpool-arsenal-barca-real-or-chelsea?p=12

And in this one they are in a rather humble 40th: http://eurorivals.net/top-football-clubs.html

I know neither of those are conclusive, but it's more evidence in my favour. With 5.2m people in Scotland, and the fact that very few people outside of Scotland give a **** about their football, how can they possibly hope to compete in this popularity contest? Do you know how many people live in Russia? Of course Zenit, their most popular team, has a **** ton of fans.

Maybe you should do some research for a change. You might actually form some valid opinions of football and be mocked far less.

If this were to happen then it is completely irrelevant how many supporters there are in Europe of each club as it would be done to appease the worldwide fanbase, mainly India and south east Asia, as that is where the majority of the viewers would come from.

As for your point about nobody wanting it, I'm sure if it got a little further down the line and they had figured out some of the details and were shown how much money they could potentially make from such a deal there would be more interest. It would also be interesting to see how many of the viewers in Asia would support this idea, as if its the majority there then it would be the majority overall

Very possibly. Using very limited stats, Milan has a population of 1.3m while St. Petersburg is around 4.9m. Milan will have fans split between 2 teams, St. Petersburg only really one - and probably a larger catchment area at that. It would be far from surprising.

As far as my study of Asia goes, it's all Man Utd and Liverpool. The only other team worth noting is Persepolis, a rather popular Iranian club, but they don't qualify for this silly hypothetical league.

What about Worldwide fans ? Thats where we are judging this , its urban area is far larger , dont be selective .
It does not take a genius to say the Milan teams Worldwide have a far larger support ? Do you dispute this Mr Nice , Joe ?

To an extent. While obviously we are looking at worldwide support rather than just domestic, I think it's pretty obvious that the large majority of fans for most teams will be fairly domestic (with the exception of United, Liverpool, Barca and Real, who have immense worldwide support, and therefore will be considered outliers in this study). For Celtic to have more supporters worldwide than Dinamo Moscow, they would need to have more supporters outside of Scotland than they do inside Scotland, and I really doubt that is the case, especially as I've already shown they have hardly any around continental Europe. So, while we're not debating domestic support, I think it's pretty indicative and useful evidence to consider. Not that you're one for considering evidence. You prefer the stubborn blind faith approach.

Celtic have supporters in England,Wales and of course Ireland(north and south)and massive support in the United States of America,Canada and Australia.
This support outnumbers the Celtic support in Scotland.

Or Rangers <laugh> Joe give it up , do you know football without the need for the interent quotes and copys and pastes I do , Celtic and Rangers would go straight into a European Super League if their were two divisions , they are an awful lot bigger than Zenit , Zenit have money but they dont have history and a Worldwide support like those clubs do , throw away quotes and crap links wont work when yo actually know the heritage of a club , Zenit is a bling watch .

You are not going to believe this Kopite (this will prove its honest I suppose) that I have been saying how big Celtic/Rangers and Liverpool are Worldwide , I did also mention the sectarian/republican/loyalist clingon though <laugh>
