There's just no getting away from constant player speculation! I know its the silly season, but shame that it dominates the nano seconds of coverage we get. I guess it's the narrative that people are expecting! Not to take the shine off a fine day for Saints.
The one on Southampton's YouTube channel was very open from him, apologising to the fans, and saying he is committed to Southampton and wants to kick on. Quite the contrast to the MOTD one for sure.
There was only one academy player in the entire squad today. Surprised this hasn't been picked up before - hopefully the next set of academy graduates get there chance at some point.
Think the content was the same though...he has a contract and will honour it by doing his best. The difference on BBC was that he was asked if his future was at Southampton...now that was a more loaded question. It would take a miracle and a fantastic season for Morgan to want to stay, so we all know he will go when his contract ends or he is released. Best to accept that we needed him to stay to stabilise the team and he is for now (presumably at least this season).
Start of the second half and about to kick off. My 9 year old son says 'Why are kids blowing bubbles at a football game. It will get in footballer's eyes. Is it to put them off' to which I reply 'No Patsy, it's West Ham, Its adults doing the bubbles, they're all idiots' to which he replied 'Good job we support Southampton then' to which I replied 'Aye Lad, That it is'
Has it occurred to anyone that with Pelle wearing his red socks really high, and the fact that he has identical red boots that he occasonally appears to be wearing the very bottom of Superman's suit..? These new red boots are very flash. Several players across the league are wearing them, but none look quite as good as Pelle, imo. The other thing was that QPR's Triore was wearing predominantly black boots, and because everyone wears all colours these days, his black boots looked rather odd.
The only time I think I ever notice boots was at the World Cup when a bunch of players were wearing those Pumas where one was pink and one was blue. And I only picked up on that because Buffon was wearing one pink glove and one blue glove to match his boots. It made me want to not wear Pumas ever. So that's good marketing.
TSS, we are just old duffers.i dispair when I take my son to get his boots and Astros. I hunt for a decent black pair but his mother gives me that look. He currently wears yellow and is delighted that they are similar to Tadic. My only saving grace is that the wife agrees that we get then from Mike Ashley's jumble sale where the older models are much cheaper!
The MotD coverage was absolutely shameful! Really p**ed me off. The highlights only really showed the goals and the remainder of the time was spent trying to award poor hard done by Hammers a penalty that no one else saw, a goal kick instead of the corner from which we scored our second goal and the "obvious" offside goal and ignore the defender in front of Pelle playing them on. Then the post match comments following the heavily edited Snidders interview. Fuming!!!!
