Hi CF, well you've sort of just agreed with me then, it could have gone either way, so maybe you could have lost! Which would be 3 points lost, not 2. My point is that we have had no luck whatsoever this season where maybe Southampton have been a bit fortunate and perhaps we could be closer than we are, but, still behind. If you read my original comment again, that is exactly what I said. As to where we are at Derby time, I think you'll still be above us before the game starts.
Regardless of whether we are 'lucky' or not we have played a very nice style of football in all our games and worked hard to get the results. Therefore, we are in 2nd place on merit and deservedly so. Football is results driven and a winning mentality allows you to grind out the results when things get tough. There is no point whingeing and saying what if... Aside from dodgy officiating at times, you make your own luck in this game.
Hi Meow, someone must have annoyed you because I've always seen you as the Pompey voice of reason. I take issue with you that we have been lucky this season as the stats just don't back this view up. In every league match so far, Saints have had either equal or more possession and had more attempts on target and off target. If you had seen us play live, then you will know that we are certainly not in a false position, some of our football has been a joy to watch and also very effective, as our goals for column will testify. I can't speak for Pompey's luck, but I would say that ours has been fair, maybe we could have lost against Forest, but we could easily have won at Leicester and their fans comments said the same thing.
How about 8 then?! Fair points all, bar the original Wum. Point taken. I haven't seen much of the games and was relying on what was said on Soccer Saturday mostly. What's also good is, apart from one that one comment, plus a few other minor indicretions (and some very horrible ones, which I deleted, from a serial looney), the Southampton fans have behaved superbly up to now. Only a few times (looney apart) have we had to take any sort of action (which I had just done when I saw Adams comment, which might explain my lack of discretion) and, as a group you should be very proud of yourselves.
Yes most of us are lovely and we wonder over to your board because we enjoy a chin-wag All friends together
But I am always very polite and respectful on the Pompey board. Unless I can think of a subtle and cheeky way of being disrespectful which is obviously part of the fun on here.
Not for me to say Devo. But I can say that I have always felt that it is more important that a post be funny, than necessarily accurate or on topic.
