Congratulations to Hull, they got more points than us, end of story and really if we thought we would be challenging for automatic promotion 8 months ago....

Well done to Leeds for turning up and playing professionally and not rolling over.

I do think Poleon should have been sent off, pushes are part of the game (unfortunately) but this one resulted in dangerous play and could have ended Bonds career.

As for Deeney yes it was a bookable tackle but if he stopped getting in the refs ear all the time it would have only been his first booking. Never seen the point of giving the ref lip, if there is something to be said it should be the captain or the manager to the 4th official.

Can't fault Bonham, thown in at the deep end in such an important match and did not really put a foot wrong. When its one on one you have no idea what the opponent will do so where do you put yourself?

In the end not our day but all the stoppages did not help the flow of the match. Great atmosphere from the telly.

At least I'll get to see the Orn's on TV another 2 times at least.. hopefully more!

    Wow - still going on.

Still going on from both sides with their biased (as all football fans are) view points.

As I say had the incidents been on the other foot we'd probably be saying the opposite.

its gone now - we'll just have to move on like the team and manager.

TBF Zola doesn't make a fuss over anything - that is why he is a true gent of the game and accepts whatever with grace.

I know its very unsual in the modern game where no-one takes responability for their own failings...

I was at the match, and have read all the comments on several threads. I'm NOT impartial, but I do like to see fair play.
WFC were desperately unlucky with the circumstances, not quite good enough to overpower LUFC, and criminally wronged by the ref. (But hey, most fans think the same about the ref whenever they lose. ) It just mattered more yesterday.
However, what I am posting about is the attitude of a few LUFC 'fans' who have defiled the 'fans opinions' process completely. How different from Cardiff and Hull , with whom we have battled all year.
What is it that makes LUFC fans seem so unpleasant ? Apart from the foul language, the nasty comments and the surly attitude they create an impression that LUFC are hard done by, are always right, and 'little clubs' (e.g. WFC) should disappear. Well, we are here by right, ABOVE LUFC by results, WITHIN THE RULES. (Bates take note, and pay St. John Ambulance from your tax haven).
Well, what are the options to explain this unpleasant behaviour.. ?
    1) Leeds are in the north, therefore are always treated badly. No, Hull, Middlesborough, Huddersfield and so on are not like that.
    2) People in Leeds are nasty. No, my family have lived there ,and they are among the most generous, warm, friendly people you could wish to meet.
    3) Sadly, that leaves the club, LUFC. 2 options.
    a) They are a 'big club' fallen on hard times. I've noticed that the supporters of similar clubs ( Sheff Wed, Birmingham, wolves, have that tendency, but nowhere near to the same extent.
    b) The legacy from Revie has never left. It is ingrained. Win at any cost, treat ALL opposition with contempt, it's a business, not a sport. The tag of 'Dirty Leeds' must be horrible to live with. The evidence does not support the tag, but the behaviour of some supporters reinforces the image in every other clubs supporters. Add in the behaviour of Bates, and the club has no chance of a decent reputation. Well, so be it. Reap and sow etc.
(If just one LUFC supporter would admit to being shamed by Revie I would look more kindly on the club.)

Now, why is it that WFC supporters. utterly devastated from yesterday, are nevertheless completely delighted with our season ?
    1) We are genuine football supporters, who love the game, not lowlife class warriors from a swamp.
    2) We have seen the best football played in the division this year.
    3) We have a manager (and his backroom team) with grace, humility, with and a love for the GAME.
    4) We finished 3rd. Hey how good is that from 18th in September ?

Will we go up - hell I don't know, but if not we will have the best footballing side in the Championship, and if we do, we will have the most refreshing side in the Premiership. What's not to like? (Unless you are from LUFC, who might have finished 18th yesterday).

    COYH !!!

Decent post Bodbo. Historically it feels like we haven't had the rub of the green; the European Cup Winners Cup final, the European Cup final in Paris, the FA cup finals v Chelsea and Sunderland etc. Couple this with the immense frustration at the mismanagement of the past decade and we've become hardened to football life.

It's true - he hasn't. And to be fair a few have been graceful in their victory. And a couple a good laugh during the game.

    Time to move on though.

Do you know what - I am coming to realise that in fact most Leeds supporters on here have not been too bad - fairly standard views on whether the ref got something right or wrong, which tackle was worse etc etc. If you ignore ALL posts by Marco these threads are not bad. We have to remember that he described himself as a WUM and is no doubt laughing the whole time at us responding to him.

I still maintain that on the day we were just unlucky with the keepers and not good enough to overcome such a setback. Hey ho - it has given us another 2 and hopefully 3 great games and as others have said it has been a fantastic season and far better than any of us expected

One of my best friends is a Leeds fan so I know you're not all bad but you do have a higher percentage than most who love to be provocative, obnoxious, generally unpleasant and think because you had success almost 40 years ago you are a big club with a divine right to be in the premiership.

I belong to another forum and have put 3 separate Leeds fans on my ignore list in the last 24 hours because all they have wanted to do in a pain full time for us is aggravate and be nasty.

It must be difficult having to rebut comments made against your support as it is for us defending our loan policy so I wish you well on this sunny bank holiday Monday.

Yes because the Internet, twitter and mobile phones have a direct bearing on clubs' success on a football pitch <doh>

Have Watford had any 'minor blips' like becoming Champions of England? No, didn't think so.

Re the goalkeeping situation, is it too late to have one loaned out from Udinese?

Not too late, but not from Udinese - Cassetti has apparently persuaded his mate Goicoechea from Roma to come over, if Bond hasn't recovered in time.....

I was trying to get across the fact your success was some 20 years ago and whilst it is something to be proud of it is not something for Leeds fans to justify why they should be in the premiership at the expense of others.

Until Leeds get over that we're a big club and are deserving to be up there I'm afraid you'll get nowhere. I remember it being said you're too good to go down, it happens.

I am devastated about events yesterday but know that with decent owners and a manager we can be proud of we are on an upwards path and despite our lack of trophies in our cabinet little old Watford are on the way up. Leeds may have turned the corner but you have a long way to go.

Well we might not even need a loan keeper. Manu said he might be fit for Thursday and if Bond has recovered from his concussion then he could play in a protective mask.

I believe Bond was going to borrow Torres mask until he looked inside. <laugh>

I assume you have made it back in one piece BB. How did you find Watford?

    Now there is a thought.

Got back late last night - and just about in one piece. I experienced a little health problem whilst there which required the attention of a paramedic, and needs to be followed up with my GP - am just hoping I won't be off work for too long.

Enjoyed the game, in spite of the result - and in spite of the Leeds players constant niggly 'game management' tactics - and really enjoyed the atmosphere, a long time since it has been that good at The Vic - even noise from the Upper Rous which was a surprise.

Won't be in a hurry to sit in the Lower Rous again though - the view is not to my liking, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

Team selection for Thursday will be interesting, not only for the goalkeeper spot. I don't think that Vydra and Fessi complement each other too well, so am wondering who will replace Deeney. Wouldn't be surprised to see Geijo and Vydra start - but I suppose there isn't anyone else!
