The first year (2013/14) of the financial fair play rulings should be very interesting.

Over the 2011/12 and 2012/13 clubs are allowed to have made an average loss of £19.6m. Failure to stick to that then they are banned from playing in Europe that year. Liverpool have been dancing around that figure for years so the new owners better turn things around in time as year on year the allowance gets tighter.

Even with our recent struggles, we've been within the guideline and following this transfer window and the shaving of wages we're pretty much going to be set for the £8.7m average loss limit in 2015/16.

Although Europe isn't realistically on our minds, Chelsea, Man City and Aston Villa (yes, they're a bit in the **** profit/loss-wise) could all fall foul of the ruling and that would bump Europa qualification potentially down to 8th. Veeeeeery interesting... :)

Great article, I agree to an extent. The '5 year plan' is a load of rubbish imo, no way were we meant to go down in the 5 years! But yeah we are becoming much more financially stable which can only be a good thing <ok>

I'd have sold Carroll for £35 million and bought a new team with it, with the option of buying him back with the 'first option' as part of the deal.

I wouldnt have gave Nolan a new contract, but I wouldnt have sold him. No need.

Id have gave Enrique a new contract yes. If he wanted to go, Id sell him for highest bidder long before start of the season.

Id give Barton a 3 year deal for £50k a week right here and now. Done.

Which part of the above isnt hard to do?

Hate to bump my own threads but was talking to a Spuds fan in the pub last night who described us as "one of the best run clubs in the league".

Considering where we were during pre-season, we're doing well, hope it continues.

And to all the doubters - nuh-nuh-n-nuh nuh <ok>
