Schneiderlin is playing worse than Wanyama. His passing is sloppy, and he's not giving Wanyama enough of an outlet. That said, Wanyama needs to just clear in those situations instead of trying to be so clever. Thought a foul on Schneiderlin might have been fair, perhaps even a yellow. But the tackle was nowhere near as bad as they keep making out and a no-call is hardly a travesty. Team as a whole looks disorganized. The front four in particular. Either Rodriguez or Lallana probably needs to come off. Defense looks pretty good so far.
West Ham are pressing us high up the pitch "Southampton style", which might explain the low pass completion from Schneiderlin (and probably others) but they have been caught out a couple of times.
Midfield really letting us down, with Jay Rod and Lallana coming infield, Shaw and Clyne need to push on, Schneiderlin and Wanyama poor so far, have to say Osvaldo only one who looks like doing something, Ramirez on soon please.
I'd bring on Ward-Prowse for someone. Also those saying Wanyama simply isn't good on the ball are misinformed. He's not had a good time of it today, but yes he absolutely is good on the ball.
I don't know the rule exactly, but I don't think that's a red card. At first I thought it was a great tackle and if you watch it in live time you can hear him hit the ball, but he obviously goes in very hard. He DOES get the ball first, but it is a strong tackle and his follow on does hit the man, so probably worth a yellow, but I think a red is a little extreme as it is one footed and along the floor.
Was more pointing out all the comments about him on twitter. Anyways back to my seat in the sunshine.
We need someone dropping into midfield to receive passes from the DMs and link up. Even when we're getting through them, we're not doing it with any momentum and they're able to recover. Would like to see Gaston coming on if the next fifteen minutes are as stagnant as to this point.
