haha NINJA serves you right for replying miliseconds after I posted it different rules for different players? yeah different expectations for a player we signed in league1 for 1m and one we spent a record fee on and expect to improve. I'm comfortable with that. some people argue that you don't judge players based on their transfer fee. I don't hold with it.
Would it be worth my pointing out where I think you have got things wrong, based on the fact that I was at the game, watched Sky choice twice, plus the Match of the Day postage stamp, and have formed my own views of the game, because even if I did, there would still be many who saw it differently and are entitled to say what they saw and it would conflict with my own ideas!
think about his pass across our backline as I posted above. BUT this is my point, you are trying to think if Jose did something wrong in that instance on the half way line? Would that blemish his performance for you? It wouldn't me. I think he was excellent, even though he did have two shocking passes in the first half. That is football it happens. Too many fans focus on a misplaced pass, or a missed chance and not the overall performance of a player.
sounds fair to me. if I hadn't spent too long altogether posting on this forum about it i'd say you spend too much of your time watching the game
Was that the move where Jose stumbled, headed the ball down, continued on a run, passed (to Gaston I think) and went on a lung bursting break down the right wing, only to find that our midfield had gone into their ususal 'sideways, backwards' mode, leaving him hopelessly out of possession and having to dash back and help recover another carelessly lost possession?
Watching the game is a good analogy, not just watching the ball, but also on what else is going on, this probably mars my judgement, as I see things that players are doing off the ball, as well as on it, still miss a lot though as I tend to text a couple of mates about what is happening, can't see everything.
i don't use statistics to determing if loss of possession is careless, but if your description is fair then i suppose it's arguable. if it's what our midfield usually do then i suppose we must believe that's the strategy.
Gaston's pass was fantastic, it almost looked impossible from his position. He did revert to type after though, it could be that "impact sub" is the best role for him in this team.
well i've certainly got no prejudices against morgan whatsoever and I didn't come away with any deep favourable impression of his impact ont he game so we can eliminate that outright. feel free to impugn my knowledge of the game
Not at all. Just want to understand how you missed Fonte's pass. It was the other end of the pitch to me, but I sit quite high and so can see that end well.
I didn't miss the pass. I didn't see who made it. thanks for the information though without this discussion I would not know that.
I'd never impugn someone's knowledge of the game per se. There are a great many people that know a whole lot more about football than me on this forum for starters. I've no problem admitting such. I think my knowledge probably sits around Joe Average. However I thought Morgan broke up their attacking play on countless occasions yesterday and moved the ball on accurately. Again, doing what I consider to be his job on the day. Edit - unless what they were saying was undoubtedly daft. Then I might question their sanity/knowledge etc.
