I'm not sure if I'd ever be that enthusiastic about the Europe League. Newcastle came 5th last year and have a decent squad, but even they, partly due to the Europa League, have been sucked into a relegation battle. If we were in Europe next year we'd probably finish the same place as we will this season.
Interesting Spurs fact of the day...they haven't won a 3pm Saturday kick-off game all season. umm...how on earth are they in 5th???
That explains it then! Sounded so much more impressive in the tweet that I saw! Still, let's keep that record rolling.
Very few on here would have said we would get more than a point from those 3 games, can you imagine the shyte we would be in now without those 9 points?
We were due them after holding our own against Man City (away, got our revenge at home), Man Utd (home, and arguably away) and Arsenal (home, obviously!).
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas rates Southampton youth set-up as good as Barcelona: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-vs-southampton-preview-andre-1868125
This has given me a chuckle tonight: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?44646-Is-Tommy-Forecast-back-yet
I've been perusing other team's forums a bit more recently of late, our Luke seems to appear on many fan's of many teams shopping lists, I see values quoted for him between £6m-£15m and allow myself a chuckle, then I have a little feeling in the pit of my stomach - what if he did go? But then I look at my Cortese shrine and say a few blessings and feel better.
He also said we are like West Ham...the shame, the shame And adds that we are a nurturing club who scout and produce players but then sell because we are not chasing titles
Be happy, Fran. AVB has been absorbed into the blind establishment which, despite plenty of expressed words to the contrary, still believes that Saints is that little club on the South Coast that will just be happy avoiding relegation each season. Good, we'll catch them all unaware, and then we can rub their surprised faces in the proverbial.
I think Spurs is the standard of club we should seek to emulate (please don't tell, Nicola. He will accuse me of lack of ambition...don't want the knock on the door at midnight...again).
Sometimes TSS you sound less like an enthused and ambitious fan, and more like an occultist surveying his crystal ball and outlaying his evil plans of domination... Although I may be exaggerating...
I think it's best we let Rickie and co go and do the work Lambie, I don't even know where my boots are! On that note, I've found myself starting to care more about Rickie's goal tally than I do our points tally now we're safe (and I refuse to accept anything otherwise), after Liverpool and Chelsea I was hoping he could crack on to 20 goals which would be a huge accomplishment, that seems a very tough task now. A first premier league hat-trick somewhere in the next three games wouldn't go amiss, and no time like the present I suppose!
I hope we don't get hammered today! I'm thinking, maybe we'll have that post defeat reaction that will help us produce a decent performance after smarting over the home loss to the Baggies. Shaw is an obvious bonus that instantly makes me feel better. Fancy Jay Rod to get on the score sheet, as when Spurs pile forward, they're going to leave gaps. Anyone think Morgan will track Bale, or not Poches style? I would guess the latter.
