It does, but until there is official news from the club, I'm not getting my hopes up. Of course I'm at Staplewood tomorrow so I could pick up some news first hand.
You know what? I don't ****ing care if Wes Brown got the ball. The **** he did to Ramirez's ankle? You see players get sent off for that all the ****ing time. and not even a foul? **** you, Chris Foy. I hope you die.
I was going to like the post until the last sentence. I know it's tongue in cheek, but a bit over the top.
That Facebook account is a pretty good effort if it's not genuine. "Back on the pitch soon" doesn't necessarily mean he's not injured of course, but hopefully it's minor.
The club won't give news out. The least said means that future opposition have more difficulty planning for games against us.
Hmmm.....watching MOTD......and I say this with trepidation. If one of our players had committed that tackle and then got sent off, we'd have ALL been bellowing that it's unfair, he got the ball, it was a great last ditch tackle with an unfortunate consequence......
I'm undecided on that one. I don't think it was a sending off at all. I'm even questioning if it was a foul, but will cede to Tom's greater knowledge on the laws front with that.
Well I certainly think it was at the very least reckless which is a yellow card. For it to be serious foul play and a red card, excessive force has to be used in the tackle, or it's out of control, or it endangers the opponent. It wasn't out of control but it certainly endangered Ramirez and I think there was excessive force in the challenge.
Largely, it's the fact that making contact with the ball first does not necessarily absolve you for what follows. Brown scuffed the ball, but he ended up planting his studs into Gaston's ankle...whether intended or not, that could be adjudged to be dangerous play. If a Saints player were sent off for it, I might bemoan the fact that they didn't intend it (as Brown didn't), but I wouldn't find it terribly contentious. Especially not if we're just talking about it being ruled as a foul or a yellow.
I know that it's irrelevant. Hence why I wouldn't find it contentious...I meant that you'd get a few posts bemoaning the fact that said Saints player was trying to play the ball and got unlucky when their foot ended up permanently embedded in someone's lower extremities, but I'd be at a loss to find anything wrong with the decision.
It's the ankle bendy picture that is making us all wince, clearly. The ref didn't see that and probably assumed that Brown tackled him and then tripped him on the follow through (fairly), as maybe most of us did at first. So I can accept the decision and the fact that Brown wasn't trying to hurt him. The ref was wrong to play on for so long afterwards, but there we go. PS I claim no extra authority as an ex-ref, just my opinion.
Just for the record, that is Lovren's official account - it's linked via his (verified) Twitter account.
Grow up man, it was an accident and not a foul. Tragic, unfortunate, but a legal tackle with no malicious intent. Even the boring skunk **** said it was good on motd. He doesn't take our side unless he has to. Hope it's not too bad like fellas. Bad injuries are a sad part of the game. Hope both your lads aren't too hurt.
