Just to say that I was annoyed with not winning that game and the apparent flippancy towards that tackle by brown (ball touched or not, it was through the player and could have bust his ankle), but rather than stay on here getting wound up by the WUMs I baked with my 11 year old daughter. I am chilled, had a great afternoon and am ready for the next game.

Afternoon, peeps (or evening for you I guess).

Was staying away from the boards because I thought it would be filled with hysterical moaning. To my surprise, aside from a few interloping trolls everyone seems to be keeping an even keel.

IMO, Brown tackle should have been a yellow or possibly red. But there wasn't any malice in it. It was a bit lunge-y and mistimed owing to the fact that Ramirez had just made some defenders look silly and was steaming towards the goal but no intent to injure and probably every defender has done that at least a few times a season. It just caught him at exactly the right place and moment. Lovren's kick while he was on the ground was at least as bad, but he just ended up hurting himself.

Anyway, not too disappointed with the result (other than the injuries). This was not one of the games where we dominated possession but never looked a threat. We should have put the game away in the first half, then we got a little unlucky. We need some fixing uptop. I don't know what the solution is-- if we need a transfer or what-- but while Lallana, Rodriguez, Ramirez, JWP, Lambert et al. are all good players, we're just missing that little bit extra. Maybe Osvaldo can be the answer.

In the end though, we looked very 9th place-y so neither good nor bad.

I hate it when away fans are put in the gods. Kills the atmosphere.

That is what i saw in this game and in some other games but did not read it before you wrote this down. I think it is a problem for a longer period: no real back up! I am not going to call names on here but hope that other people will stop being overenthousiastic on some players.

I wonder if Sir Chris Hoy has got any abuse from Saints fans on Twitter today, angry about the tackle on Gaston......
