Nonsense, I can be as complacent as I like, it will have no effect whatsoever on the outcome. Freak results happen, but they are rare. I don't believe for one second we'll be on the end of another one this time.
I don't care if you are complacent or not, although it might lead to a painful evening for you if we don't do we'll. it was aimed at the staff and players who I definitely don't want to feel complacent.
Think we'll sneak a win but it won't be easy. Bet you the same fans that think we're safe will come on hit the panic button if we get defeated!
No you didn't, but if the fans are complacent, the players might be too. That's something we don't want
Some examples of positives for us against equivalent negatives for them: 1 Us - We were a young inexperienced side that is now 1 year older and maturer 1 Them - They were an old experienced side that is now 1 year older and slower 2 Us - We improved in key areas of the team 2 Them - They bought 1 Russian striker 3 Us - We are already playing in the style we want to play 3 Them - They are still transitioning (at teh very beginning of that transition) into a new playing style. 4 Us - Danny Fox will not be playing at left back 4 Them - Danny Fox will not be playing at left back Basically we are a team that are progressing both in terms of experience, age and ambition. They are a club that over the next few years is going to need a major overhaul both in terms of phasing out older players, phasing in a new style of football, bringing in better quality and experience etc. I'm very confident that we will park the bus against them..............on THEIR 18 yard line
Danny Fox will not be playing at left back _______________________________________ Goal start for us!
Will feel very strange for Nigel meeting Nicola and all the players again. I suppose it's better at his new club than coming back to St Marys. He will, of course, be professional, but he wouldn't be human if he didn't feel wistful. I presume our fans will be warm to him (at least until kick off).
We are expected to win and the pressure is on us. Man city, Liverpool and chelsea were expected to beat us. We don't seem to perform as well when pressurised (as above- reading last year pressure to stay in top spot). Combine this with 10 men behind the ball and hoofball and you can see why people think we may struggle 'typical saints' etc. But we have to start beating the 'lower' teams and I'm certain Poch and the gang have been working on this, hence OS article "not just playing for big teams". If we want to be pushing for europe next year we need to start steamrollering these teams. I believe this will start on sat. 4-1 saints.
Noted you other positive comments but I don't think the pressure will be on us any more than on Reading. The pressure is hugely on them, but I'd be surprised if pundits like Lawro actually predict Saints to win, and pundits do have a habit of behaving like sheep, as well. So if the pressure is on Saints then it will come from within, in my opinion, not without. Of course, all the pundits will now completely overturn what I've just said and predict a Saints win.
Betfair offered 70/1 on Pogrebnyak to score first and Reading to win 2-1. Oh and also, with them it's now 33/1 for us to go down...
Oh and also, 6 of our next 7 opponents are in the bottom 8 of the form table: http://stats.football365.co.uk/dom/ENG/PR/oform.html
Yes that's kind of what I meant, Poch and the team will feel under pressure to win this given our recent form and reading's position. Internal rather than external pressure. Would like to see gaston back for this one, perhaps not to start as I thought davis did well against chelsea.
