Adam Lallana in today's matchday programme: "I'm certainly ambitious. I want to one day play in the Champions League and compete for the Premier League." "I got emotional because it's a journey I couldn't have dreamed of, but I'm not saying this is the end by any means." "There are going to be some decisions to make in the summer and maybe it all hit home a little bit when I was speaking." "Every fan would realise there is big potential in our team and we have players who can go and play at a higher level."
"I'm not saying this is the end by any means." In other words, if the board show ambition by keeping Mauricio, and possibly Shaw, then Adam might stay?
Betfair implied chances for today: 36% Saints Win 38% Man U Win 26% Draw That feels reasonable. Most likely score? One or other side to score more than three! That doesn't. Vin
Apparently he's just done a live interview for Sky and came across very well and positive. Who knows...
SAINTS: Boruc; Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw; Cork, Wanyama; S. Davis, Schneiderlin, Lallana; Lambert. BENCH: Gazzaniga, Chambers, Hooiveld, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Gallagher, Do Prado.
Sky Sports interpretation: "Southampton's Adam Lallana admits he wants to be challenging for the title and playing Champions League football. " Daily Echo interpretation: "Adam Lallana: I'm not saying this is the end for me at Saints"
Well, lets just forget about all the speculation and celebrate this season for the final 90 minutes of the season and the lap of honour. I want to see plenty of appreciation of the main men and especially so for Guly.
Sounds to me like he hasn't made up his mind to go. I think he would love to stay if we gave him half a reason to do so...down to the board and Mauricio. Le Tissier (bless him) said he might have to go if he wants Champions' League football soon....and he shut up the others who tried to mock him for the implication that Saints might get there one day.
Shows how seriously Mauricio is taking this. He talked about giving other youngsters experience in the last few games, but has shown little sign of it when not forced. No argument from me...a nice strong finish to the season, please.
