Whole team performed well IMO. Hard to pick a MOM, as the centre backs were quality, the centre mids were quality and Jay and Lambo were quality.
Boruc made two crucial saves...getting more and more confident about him. He looks the part. Dreadful mistake from Hart...every time I see it in slo-mo I expect someone to save it, but Davis scores every time
Wow, just wow. I know it's hard to pick a MOM but for me Rickie was a different level of class today. So clever with his use of the ball, he makes it look simple, true genius. Proper football people know how good he is.
Today was the best I have seen Saints play in years. They were excellent today. Cork was MOTM in my opinion he hunted the ball non stop and made Barry look pathetic. If Barry can be an England regular then surely Cork can be too. Both centre backs were superb and even Fox (whose amazing pass set up Lambert then Davis for the second) was brilliant. Great subs thought bringing on Ward Prowse to help Richarson defend the threat on the right was a great move. Jay Rod was also excellent today. A great day COYRs
Cracking win, well done. You've given the top two a game in each of your 4 matches against them this season. Your defence let you down previously, but not today. It's a shame Adkins couldn't have enjoyed the glory of beating the champions- he deserves it more than anyone. League 1 two years ago lest anyone should forget.
In a strange way, presuming we stay up (which I am sure we will), I am already looking forward to next season. Could be very interesting if Poche is giving large financial backing to go and make our exciting squad even better! COYR
THIS DAY IN 2010: SFC beat MK 3-1 as goals from Lambert, Woodards (og) and Lallana sent Saints to Wembley for the JPT Final.
Yes I agree, but oh how I wish when he broke down the right he had seen Jayrod unmarked at the far post. He did still pick out Red shirt though.
Bet Rickie wished he had knuckled down and not drifted for so long in lower leagues waiting for Saints to find him.
He adds as much value without the ball as he does with it. Fantastic movement, he pulls defenders all over the place. I bet PL managers would rate him far higher than PL fans.
Great result.. Made city look average at best. You could and should have won by a much bigger margin, definite pen you didn't get either. Well done
When we played Man Utd one of the commentators pointed out that Rickie scored a penalty in the L2 play off final in 2007. So from the bottom rung of the football ladder to the top in 5 seasons. Such an incredible Roy of the Rovers story, it's the hindsight of missed opportunity that makes him the player he is. I bet he doesn't regret a single day.
Same here, can barely talk. Also got a very deep gash just below my kneecap from the seat in front due to the 2nd goal, then opened it up a bit more when the 3rd went in!
Still not exactly confident of avoiding relegation. We're playing so well but a little downturn of form or a bit of bad luck....
