Sitting at home with his feet up, Cech will still have a better game than our goalie (did that sound bitter?).
I'm looking forward to this game, going with a few friends including a 'couple' supporting opposite sides, the guy in the away end and the girl in the home end. I guess this game is quite significant to me because I have so many friends who are Chelsea fans and it's a game we actually have a chance of winning (at least in theory considering its a cup match). My best mate knows if we win this game, regardless of how we do against them in the league I wont let it lie for a long long time.
Benitez on Torres: "He needs a rest" Adkins on Mayuka: "He joins up with Zambia for the African Cup of Nations after the Chelsea game"
Still don't think they will play a full strength side. Whoever plays we have nothing to lose so we should just go at them from the whistle!
Remember no one dies if we lose Saturday (which we probably will)...just don't want it to be a trouncing.
Listening to Adkins...it sounds like he is going to play a strong side on Saturday. Glad for the fans...we want a good match. He mentioned that Ramirez has recovered from his dead leg on Tuesday....OMG!!...didn't know he was injured...be still my beating heart.
Dead leg ? recovered or not , I am worried !!! As for the game . Call me selfish but Sod the FA cup . If we field a strong team on saturday and get injuries ( Win or lose ) that is just bloody stupid IMHO .
Good, want a strong side, the ticket prices for the game do not justify putting a weak side out. And didn't Ramirez's injury earlier in the season which kept him out for several weeks come from complications from a dead leg?
I wouldn't risk Gaston or Lambert. And a few others I'd bench. Still take it seriously, but the game after that is mahossive!!!!!!
Looks like it's going to half and half then with the team. Bit of first team and a few fringe/youthies involved I would guess
I too had thoughts like these until I read that saints have NEVER lost to Chelsea in the seven times they've met have in the FA Cup!
Adkins said it was the other leg to the original injury. The first injury wasn't strictly a dead leg...it was something called compartmental disease...which involves massiveand painful swelling to the point where your leg can split. There is even a risk of losing a leg, but he had immediate hospital treatment. Gaston said it was very painful, but he didn't need surgery because his blood pressure didn't soar. Sounds very nasty.
I am quite relaxed about playing both Rickie and Gaston..... provided they are subbed off after the first half........ a minute or so.
I'd like to see Gaston play in the FA cup as well, but I just don't think we can take that risk what with Adam's short/long term knee problem. Villa will be our biggest game since, well since Villa. Must win six pointer, anything else & we are going to be sucked into a battle that is getting messier by the blinking day.
Just watched the SaintsPlayer stuff, I ended up watching the chair more than anything when Cork was on. That boy won't sit still!
