We do indeed, for example people who resort to ad hominem when their logic is proven to be flawed. Vin
Two words sum up the quality of ITV Football coverage i.e. Adrian Chiles, need I say more? Forest 1 up against Hammers, a Penalty.
Went to the game yesterday and enjoyed it. Clynes goal reminded me of that Wayne Thomas screamer against Ipswich a few years ago. A jittery start and Burnley were well organised and played a high line with good pressure on our defenders whilst in possession. The two Southampton born lads worked really hard(I don't know if that is the norm for them or that extra determination for this game). Like the start against Chelsea we coughed up the ball in dangerous areas and that looked like it would be our undoing(but we got away with it). Our system requires defenders to be comfortable on the ball and have a decent range of passing and sadly Yoshida is not up to task. He is a decent defender, but he has a mistake in him. Once we managed to work the ball into midfield we were excellent and controlled the game for large spells. Steve Davis was MOTM and continued his vain of form. Cork/Morgan & JWP put in workmanlike displays. Ramirez was of course frustrating. He desperately needs to balance his game up and simplify it. Every time the ball is played into him he is trying to control it and make an aggressive move towards the goal at the same time. This leads to him miss-controlling or playing a bad pass. Sometimes it works and it's excellent, but currently its 50/50 at best. He needs to make his 1st instinct(especially in our own half) that protecting and shielding the ball is his priority and save everything else for the final third. I'm sure the club have told him this, but for me it's an experience problem and he needs more pitch time. Lallana was great when he came on and it might have just been because it coincided with our worst spell in the game but we appeared to have a better balance. I think the other players understandably have greater confidence when he is on the ball that it will stay with him. As for Burn-er-ly and Danny Ings I was very impressed on the evidence of this match. There is always a caution over a striker doing well in the Championship as to whether he can make the step up, but i'm confident that Ings would do well in the premier league. He worked hard, put himself about and didn't let our centre backs rest. He showed good control(bringing a 60 yard hoof down wonderfully), but what impressed me most was his turn of pace and acceleration. Outdoing Hooiveld for pace for the goal is one thing, but his strike which forced the corner for the 3rd goal was impressive because he took on Shaw and showed him a clean pair of heels. Watching some of his goals this season and that appears to be his biggest asset. Whether he would be good enough for a team with top 10 aspirations is another matter again, but i'd hope Saints are monitoring his progress.
The main thing for me from the the match is that it shows how important a strong bench is, we lost to Chelsea due to thier bench. Its thefirst time that we had game changers on the bench to come on. Our first 11 I would go toe to toe with any team in the league with, our bench or cover for injuries however is pretty shyte
