Have backed ATHENS at evens (BOG) here- may seem short but I was at York when he ran 4th on debut and he stayed on really well for hand riding. The form of that race is working out really well also
Agree with Ron and Nass, think Hoof It unlucky there and Fallon probably would have got him home! Pocket talk of course, and I'm not in the least frustrated that Dream Ahead won when he down me a nice turn in the July Cup...
Anyone know anywhere going distance betting in Irish Champion? I don't expect SYT to have company coming home...
Beeforsalmon Paddy Power So You Think to win by Up to and including 2&1/2 Lengths 2/1 So You Think to win by 3 to 3&1/2 Lengths Inclusive 9/2 So You Think to win by 4 Lengths or More 7/4 So You Think not to win 2/1
Shumoos finally wins again. Who would have thought she would be a 9/4 shot in a Kempton race when she hosed up on debut. Funny things are these horses.
She didn't look impressive though Nass - Hannon talked Pearl Charm up to be some kind of superstar after debut - silly me backs it today - was beat after 20 yards . Beeforsalmon think 7/4 seems fair for that bet
Still up on the day slightly but not happy with a few runs (Rainfall/Pearl Charm) will try the following at Thirsk - Skilfull win @ 11/2 Midsummer Fair E.W @ 20/1
Are punters in this country completely deaf and stupid? Watching Channel 4 racing before the first race at Haydock, trainer David Simcock was asked about his runner First City. In its last race it was thrashed by Goldikova in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild, but on the bare form that gave it a chance in this Listed race. Simcock explained that the horse was a follower not a leader and would put its head in the air when it got to the lead. A simple translation of this is that it is ungenuine and the only way to win with it is to deliver it extremely late and lead on the line before it can throw the towel in. Certainly not betting material. So why did punters back it into second favouritism when the favourite (the winner) King Torus had as good as been tipped by Richard Hughes in the Racing Post? The three-way photo in the Sprint just illustrates that there are no "great" sprinters this year. Bated Breath just denied again by a wandering Dream Ahead. With Hoof It not assisted by the winner hanging across him, I would not have been surprised if the stewards had dropped the three-year-old to third.
