With Everton and Spurs in the Europa League, we could have got into the top 6 if we kept our players/MP and made a few wise signings. That would be a good 'next level'.
don't disagree. barring intervention or stupendous fortune we are hoping that the teams above us drop into our group rather than standing a realistic chance of joining them. just saying that the term is getting a lot of derision now primarily because we've got nowhere to go.
Absolutely true. The only reason to jeer a player (if there even is one) is if they don't give their best. Being not good enough is the manager's problem/fault. Pelle is in a new league...give him support for heaven's sake.
The only people having a laugh are fans of the few teams that never liked us anyway. And their views cannot affect us. Most people are largely neutral. I enjoyed the admiration last season...who wouldn't, but that was meaningless. All I care about is how we do...I have no problem if this is a rebuilding season.
Very good points, but very hypocritical ... back in the League One days, Kelv and Harding could do no right in his eyes.
Pelle post match “I need to help my own game get better. We have to be better.” The attacker, who made his league debut in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last week, made comparisons to his days in Rotterdam and at AZ Alkmaar. He said: “Of course, the defenders just go through to kick the ball [in England]. “In Holland they are different, they are playing defenders. They like to be together. They are attacking from the defence – here they are tougher. I like that and it shouldn’t be a problem for me to adapt.” The former Lecce striker was keen to stress that he is bonding well with his new teammates and they are working hard to fuse together as a squad after a summer of transition at St Mary’s. “Many players have arrived and already it is the beginning of the season,” he said. “But we are working every day, every week, to try and find a good connection. “We need to win the games now. We’re playing well but we’re not getting the points. “We have to go again and hopefully get a win on Tuesday (against Millwall).” It was Pellè’s first Premier League match at St Mary’s and the Italian enjoyed playing in front of the home fans. “It’s a great experience for me,” he said. “It’s the best competition [the Premier League], b
I can see Rodriguez picking up one of his flick ins and running at defences. This is the thing I saw too little of last Saturday. A new winger and Jay back. Could be much easier on the eye once that happens.
tbf I don't recall anyone lambasting a player for simply setting foot on the pitch but that might be because i'm in the part of the stadium where people are close enough moan directly at the manager. when people moan at a player for the action they cocked up i don't feel it's the same as simply criticising them for not being good enough.
He had that pointed out to him in the comments afterwards. But as he said in his own defense, his article wasn't about criticising players on a forum or in the pub it was about fans doing it at the ground. This was a player who was making his home debut and trying to adjust to a new team for Christ's sake. Not only had these so-called supporters decided he was useless but were going to ironically cheer when he did something right. In his second game! It's moronic behaviour. Pelle could turn out to be below standard but that wouldn't be his fault, and getting on his back wont make him any better. Idiots.
For your ears only, we have enough corny jokes, we reap what we sow. Time for a straw poll to vote for more?
