In the Europa Cup, Swansea seem to be having trouble against a team with a lot of possession but can't seem to score. Mmmm.
St Gallen were a VERY good side. We did well to get three points and to be honest they deserved a draw. The ref was in their pocket mind
"Saints squad practice their sent off stances". or "Danny. What are you doing here..? Bolton is up there..!"
I was surprised by how good St Gallen were...luckily for Swansea they struggled to finish. Swansea settled into the game and were the better side in the second half.
Michu nearly got scalped! After such a tough match I would be quite happy for us to now go to St Marys and park the bus - but I doubt if Mike Laudrup would agree
I heard during the match last night that Wenger suggested it could take a new player from abroad 6-7 months to settle into the English game. Saints fans think similarly...most would give a player 6-7 days
In the past I would have pooh-poohed that comment of his, but I must say that Olivier Giroud is a changed player compared to last season, so I accept his observation.
LIVE: Pochettino's pre-Swansea press conference (approx. 3pm)
Blimey, they don't exactly care too much about punctuality, do they. When they say approx 3pm, they mean within that particular hour.
Southampton FC: Mauricio Pochettino is in the building! He's due in the press conference within the next 10 minutes.
Having established that the journos will wait, next week's press conference will be held approximately Thursday.
Sounds like Poch has been listening to Dan... Mauricio Pochettino: "I am not really keen on the Europa League. We are all more attracted to the Champions League."
I liked the answer he gave to the second question about Artur Boruc making comments about Saints being in the Champions League, when he said he likes to see and hear ambition in his players. This hugely contrasts with an answer MLT put to an interviewer when they asked him about Saints players talking about being in the CL. Matty said he wished they didn't speak about that, but went with the flow of the league, while they were settling in. I found myself disagreeing with Matty again [it's becoming a less rare thing these days, when talking about SFC]. My own feeling was that if the Saints players want to set themselves the goal of CL then by all means they should do so. Aim high.
