Mesut Ozil's Arsenal move was clearly a stepping stone to get some Premier League experience before signing for us next summer.
I was messing about, although it is true that I don't rate him very highly. People said we didn't need a central midfielder when we bought Wanyama, and look at us now. Don't get me wrong, Davis has been playing very well, and hopefully Gaston can step up to the plate but it is looking increasingly unlikely. I still think Ward-Prowse could move forward and make a good AMC at some point, but for me the next area we could strengthen is that creative midfield department. Of course, if gaston learns to stop losing the ball all the time, then that observation is null and void.
At the moment, yes, but upgrades on current options are always neccesary if one wishes to continue progress
Thats because none of our attacking midfielders are ideal options to put in at the expense of defensive midfield.
It should happen a lot more organically than some are suggesting, and it would preferably not happen through the use of January transfer windows. Ward-Prowse is constantly upgrading himself like some sort of footballing Terminator, and if everyone plays their cards right, he could end up being our Gerrard. The fact that we're having this conversation about Ramirez to begin with shows that we've got more than enough depth in his position, to the point where talented players worth £11.8m are being left out and could potentially become unsettled. Adding to a position which doesn't need adding to has more potential for bad than for good.
Exactly Joe. WE do need to add one or 2 better back up options. We can possibly improve on some of our first team but we don't need a superstar bench. We aren't playing umpteen extra games in europe or reaching the final stages of both cups............yet
