Fair play to you guys. It's rare that that rationaltiy comes in front of emotions. And I very much enjoyed reading through this thread. Some very good good unbiased observations. Thought that a draw would be fair, but I also believe in the philosphy that the team that scores the most deserves to win. You were more clinical up front and we weren't. That's why other teams pay a lot of dough for the right forward. It's not all about luck. We'll get you at Liberty though
By 'that quick' I didn't mean it in the dismissive sense of 'Oh he's not that quick', I meant he's not so super-humanly quick as to need to have a 15 yard headstart on him over a distance of about 40 yards.
If Dyer doesn't get behind you, he can't beat you. It's sad that Fox actually needs to give him that much space to make sure he doesn't get beaten, but it is what it is. I know we are all smarting from last season when for once in his miserable life Dyer actually finished, but that's a one-off. It's not luck that Dyer looked threatening but ultimately didn't do anything. That's just Nathan Dyer being Nathan Dyer. I'm sure Swansea fans were not surprised by that in the slightest. If I had to use Fox, I would tell him the exact same thing. Keep it simple, keep Dyer in front of you. I would prefer obviously, not to have to use Fox.
I have at last realised the truth. The reason behind our meteoric rise up the tables is that Nicola has sold his soul to the Devil
Watched match on MOTD last night. Loved the bit where Hansen said that Saints were a force to be reckoned with. Happy days.
*he said through gritted teeth* Less appealing was the 5 minute piece on Swansea's tactics, just because they had Hartson in the studio.
Agree about the gritted teeth...he almost swallowed his words...all the sweeter because he felt he had to say it.
luckily I've never cared what "experts" thing about us be it good or bad. Out of the dozens of pundits on tv, probably only Gary Neville talks any sense.
Curious that in a match where we had far less possession than usual, the atmosphere was the best for a while. It would seem that the Northam obviously read my previous comment and it was gratifying when they, to a man and woman, thought, " Fodder has a point, let's give OWTS a go". Thanks, I was really happy for the gesture. WRT Fox, there are few who think he is good enough and when that is the case, every misplaced pass just seems like confirmation , rather than just an isolated error. January is not far off-perhaps we will see better back up then. Obviously 4th is great so why am I not more excited about it? Perhaps I just expected us to do well this season, what with players, manager and Chairman we have. I know it's not sensible, but I just don't think that we will drop much from here all season. And yes, I realise that this is going to get bumped if we do!
Agree about Fox. Watching the extended highlights I was surprised how well I thought he did having already read all the Fox is crap posts.
The manager has to use the players he has available. Mauricio has my faith and, although Fox isn't his first choice, he selects him when he has to above the option of playing someone else out of position and switching others around.
Good overall analysis on Fox Mikey, I would say that of course since I agree with every word. However, its not all about speed as you rightly say. He was equally 'destroyed' twice by the Bristol City winger in the Championship and by the Blackpool winger who was probably Tom Ince I can't remember. Anyway, the point is it doesn't matter who the opposition is, Fox plays in the same way in a kind of non-position near to the centre backs, although not near enough to be of any real help. That said, on the ball, I thought he was OK and he got into some good positions offensively, albeit he was rarely used.
The best thing to come out of the entire weekend of football was this. please log in to view this image Almost artistic in nature!
