They are still back up, Fonte is still not over his injury. If Boruc and Fonte were fit they wouldn't play. So yes they are back up :p

Heh, Fox off for Gallagher...now that's an attacking move. This isn't ending 3-2.

I guess we have to hope we don't concede again. There is no point in taking off Jos to consolidate a one goal deficit so we may as well keep it as it is and make some attacking changes.

EDIT: Didn't hear that last substitution

I'm not sure you can consider them purely backups when they are required to play so frequently.

Fonte's on the bench and was last week too, how is he still not fit?

Injuries take time to heal? They are only playing due to injuries as I said so they are back up even if they are playing a lot atm.

So Chambers goes to LB, and JWP to RB.

    Gallagher nearly scores.

If he's fit enough to be on the bench three weeks ago (and play the second half), he's surely fit enough to start by now? These guys are professional athletes, they're supposed to have a high level of fitness, and he's clearly not currently injured or he'd not be on the bench, how does it take so long to get ready to play? Genuine question, I can't understand it.

If we're running these players into the ground then we need to rotate more when they are all fit. It's better to bring Hooiveld in for one game to preserve Fonte's fitness (for example) than it is to have several players run out of gas at once and play a team of backups.

Lambert has done nothing apart from his tap in goal.

Ramirez is looking quite good, playing a lot of nice balls around.

Every part of our game today (apart from Lallana) has been poor; tactically, technically and even in terms of workrate we've been second best.

Hate to doom-monger, but I'm starting to think my conservative prediction of 8th might have been rather optimistic.

I think the past couple of weeks may illustrate how much of a difference Wanyama's made.

Not the first time that we've been second in workrate, and it again goes back to the lack of depth. We're asking a hell of a lot if we expect players to be able to run around like madmen for 90 minutes of every game, through injuries and fatigue. We need additional players in the worst possible way.

Got nothing from this one, deserved nothing. Lallana was stellar, the rest...eh.

I find it now very amusing that people said they'd be disappointed we don't get top 6.
