Heard that. Cracked me up, almost as much as Vic trying to be athletic in the opposition box...looked more like a grain silo tipping over than an athlete.
Perhaps so, but I hope people have taken note of just how many times he's broken their possession since he came on. Clue - it's a lot.
That is an interesting point. I have noticed that we do retain possession less well this season and are perhaps slightly more direct. I think this may mean we will find it tougher against the big teams as we cannot afford to give them so much possession, however we do close down like last season and we fortunately have more pace on the counter.
I wasent criticizing mate, im a big fan of his, but you could almost hear his joints straining as he went to lift his leg higher than 40cm.
Oh no, I realise that, don't worry - but here's a game where the fact that Cork/Wanyama are two very different players with different strengths is most highlighted.
I think we are just a bit more flexible in our approach. Excellent though it looked, last season's line-up had pretty much one way of playing, and if a team coped with that, which was difficult, we were a busted flush. However, we seem to be able to play direct when we want, play tika-taka and keep ball when we want, and press almost as well as last season. I think we're more effective. Lots to be pleased about.
Just like to say, before any pundits say it, but Saints haven't beaten Newcastle because Toon have played badly. Saints have just been better than them. Toon have fought for the ball, but they've just been second best in almost every department. So, to my mind, Newcastle haven't had an off-day. Saints have just made them look bad.
I hear Gardos can play midfield - I wonder if he will play there more than as centre back. Oh and we have just moved above Spurs.
