Unlucky chaps A little bit unfair on the score line. Had that Italian striker worked out for you then things may have been very different. Have to say dropping players for that cup game considering you don't have much to play for in the League appears even more ludicrous now. Hope you catch United
Thanks for the game, it was a good match. It's not for me to say where it went wrong for you boys but good luck for the rest of the season.
Not happy with the result but we haven't had 5 put past us like Spurs or Stoke. Other teams have been really stuffed home and away by Liverpool and Man City. We have a small squad, still learning to play in the Premier League. How long have the teams above us had to learn?
Very soft penalty, and the scoreline flatters Liverpool, but I'm afraid we don't deserve any more from this game in the end. We were given a chance to take a hold of the game in the first half, and we didn't take it. A couple of winnable games coming up and if we're to take Pochettino's "season not over" talk seriously, we need to see a lot more in those games.
Not sure if this will make sense, but to my mind our play is better than our players. Do you get what I mean?
Liverpool are a top side so credit it to them . We were good for first half , poor for second . I'm disappointed as any saints fan but I still see this season as a success and I'm sure we will keep plugging away for the rest of the season.
Game was pretty much over at half-time really, can't afford to chase a game against a team like Liverpool and that was inevitable when we were unable to regain parity in that period of resurgence in the first half. Bit of bad luck, bit of poor finishing, sounds pretty familiar. Really can't lose either of our next two and should win both.
Why are people persisting with this ridiculous notion that "the season is over" and that the players are therefore not up for it. Absolute bollocks and that was clear today. They wanted to win, we got hit by two sucker punches (Dejan's worst game for us I'm afraid) and then closed up all the space in their half, hence we couldn't break them down. Nothing at all to do with any lack of effort, so let's nip that in the bud straight off.
Our players are stronger together than they are as individuals...most would be less effective in other teams. Few could play in a top side. We desperately need that extra spark that true quality bring...we hoped Dani would be that, but he couldn't cope with the PL. The fact he's scoring in Italy proves that.
Exactly this. PTF - there are people saying on the previous page that the season is over and you can see it in the player's performance. You don't have to look too far.
Okay. I was basing that on the BBC live updates which said we had 58-59% of possession. That was before their second goal though.
****'s sake, where have I said that I blame the performance solely on this substitution? I'm just saying Davis offers more all round in that position, and allows Chambers to be more offensive. Changes our entire shape on the right. Please counter my argument with a valid counter-point.
Well we went 1-0 down so it was game over if it went to our form - which it did. All the plaudits in the world get you no points... I'm looking forward to see which player will be trotted out on the OS to say "We'll learn from this" which of course we don't. Oh well England next and Palace away who haven't got anything to play for......oh dear.
