Pretty much the only non-negative comment from Keown and Crooks about this whole incident, was Keown saying "If anything, the incident just before, involving Guzan, was more of a penalty". Not exactly them saying "penalty" but better than saying Jay has cheated to win us a penalty, and that he should be banned etc.
On Player, Adkins was asked about Jos celebrating at the end. He laughed and said, 'Probably relief. It's fair to say he had a challenging afternoon. We'll work on it on the training ground.' Sounds like Jos was giving Adkins some more grey hairs.
Until we lose on Wednesday to Chelsea that is. If we could snatch a draw gainst Chelsea I would be chuffed as it would be 22 games played and 22 points.
For those who haven't seen the penalty incident from today's match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAwb94MGmA8
If we lose by one goal on Wednesday we will still be above Newcastle. Am I correct in thinking this is the first time this season we are averaging a point per game?
Kris Temple‏@kristemple RT @tonguetweets: Andy Crosby said Halsey came in at HT and said pen was Guzan on Puncheon &was playing advantage (in the box?) #Saintsfc
Having seen the incident now: Penalty..! it must be for Guzan's challenge. I thought Guzan's challenge was a penalty. So perhaps we didn't win by being fortunate, but by being awarded a fair decision.
Guys this is one of those games where we have got a result despite not playing brilliantly. During a season you maybe get a couple of these games where you will still carve out a result. That probably shows the side is beginning to develop into a decent side as I think you will all agree not so long ago that probably would not have happened. There are going to be other games ahead which is going to require equal strength of character. Well done Saints, good result........Keep pulling results like that out of the hat and we will be still challenging for honours next season in the premiership.
This result feels like the first time we have rode our luck but came away with the full 3 points. It Makes up for the dropped points at home due to errors. We haven't had much in the way of dodgy decisions, so no complaints from me. Although new evidence has come to light it would seem. Results like this can bond the team (not that they don't play for each other) although its difficult to see where the next points will come from. Well done today lads.
Yep most definitely.......I just hope we do not let in another 5 to Chelsea.... Otherwise Newcastle will jump above us with out earning it!
Can't judge by Cup game. I'm certain that we will not lose massively and may even get a point because of our improved defence. Can't see it worse than 3.1.
Our defense has improved but will have Fonte and probably Shaw absent for the Chelsea game. Damage limitation is key for this one. That said, i thought the same before we played Man City.
Just got back and boy did lady luck shine on our side today!! Benteke missed 2 sitters, we got a dubious penalty and Villa hit the bar. The only bad luck we had was Shaw. I hope he's not as badly injured as it looked.
Also cant work out whether that save from Boruc was actually good or not. From the stands it looked amazing, however on the replay it looks quite basic.
Whats not to get? it wans't as good as i first thought, still a good save however. Just not as outstanding as people are making it out to be.
The shot had pace , players blocking view at times. Boruc showed a strong hand and agility to keep it out. Save was as good as scoring a goal.
