Artur was just interviewed on Sky Sports - says all the new signings are good lads. Was generally looking mildly insane. 3 of the 4 pundits going for a Saints win, Charlie Nicholas went for score draw.
He had yet to show us what he has so far in the league. Who knows he may well have upped his game since Shaw took his place and over the summer. If he screws up so much he costs us more than one goal then we can criticise him. Until then he is a Saints player so we should get behind him! Go on Foxy!
Redmond v Chambers and Snodgrass v Fox will be key I think. They'll be looking to get lots of crosses in for Wolf. Really not sure how this game will go. It'll be an interesting one.
I disagree that he was good in the championship. As joe said, I felt he was the odd one out. Our whole squad tries to play it out from the back, and fox feels the need to lump it down the line at every opportunity. Whether he got the blame for some goals is irrelevant for me. My gripe is that he doesn't offer us what we need at all offensively or defensively. I would accept him being weak at defending if he was good going forward. I would accept if he was weak offensively and good defensively. In my opinion he is below average at both, and nowhere near the level of te rest of our squad. Defenders are always going to be responsible for a few goals over the season, it's his overall technical ability that I feel is lacking.
Disagree...Fox being out of position largely owed to Fox being out of position. He tucks in behind the left CB rather frequently, which both leaves the entirety of the flank open, and often means that he's not maintaining the defensive line; he played more than a few opposing attackers onside last year. No matter what happens today, we do still need another fullback, in my opinion.
All you say about his level is probably right now. He was however good enough in the championship for us. Yes he tries the odd champagne ball and probably too often, but he was still good for us and a key part of that team.
Well we have at least two players on the pitch today who can cross the ball, and we have two strong strikers up top, so.......
I thought he was. His delivery was good at that level from set pieces. i would have liked him to get forward more, but he didn't go beyond their full back .. Neither does Shaw (not that he's in his league). Their was only the odd game where the opposition got round him and causes us problems but I the championship he was generally good enough. I don't think he is right for us now though.
Norwich have started very brithtly, we can't get the ball. Haven't seen us get dominated possession-wise like this in a long time. Hopefully we can ride it out.
Redmond sounds dangerous. Are we pressing much like we have done under Poch? Doesn't sound like it on radio.
Howard Webb seems determined to give a free kick every time a Norwich player goes down. Good save Artur.
