Typical Lawrenson - lazy, shallow, misinformed comment.

Will you shock them like you did Liverpool? Usually I raise a wry smile when Saints lose [understandable - I'm sure that's reciprocated <laugh>] but I'd laugh most heartily at another loss for Manure, so good luck <ok>

    My team;

    ----------------------Boruc-----------------
    Clyne------Fonte---------Lovren-----Shaw
    ----------------------Wany-----------------
    --------------Spider-------------------------
    ------Lambert------Lallana------Davis-----
    -------------------Osvaldo------------------

Subs; SKD, Chambers, Hoiveld, JWP, Gaston, J-Rod, Isgrove/Rowe

Front 4 interchangeable but Davis providing cover down the left flank as he did against Swansea (yes I know that was for Fox but this is Manure). Gaston to come on- he needs to play. Bring on Rowe/isgrove if we're 2-0 up (!). J-Rod to come on against tired legs.

Just seen on the BBC website the match preview has a photo of manure vs sunderland at the top. Outrage! We don't even play in bloody stripes anymore. They wouldn't make that mistake with one of the 'big 6'.

EDIT- Just realised it's because they played sunderland last. I'm not v bright.

According to yesterday's pre-match press conference, one or two sports journos are considering Saints as favourites. No, I'm not kidding.

Tbf, this is the one time I've found solace with Lawro's predictions. I'm not comfortable all this positivity - both from us fans, and also non-Saints people. I'd rather we went back under the radar for this one. Zero expectations. I don't care about our start to the season - or Utd's for that matter; this is still Man Utd away.

If we get something then absolutely fantastic. But I'd rather go in fully expecting defeat (not the players obviously!).

I remember someone on here saying if we lose tomorrow, they would be disappointed. <doh> Not the attitude a fan should have going to Old Trafford. I feel we are capable of getting a result but I'm not expecting one. I would be ecstatic with a point.

Not that it appeals to me, but Paddy Power are offering 475/1 if Saints beat ManU 3-2, but only if Wanyama scores the first goal of the match, and not an own goal either.

I bet that looked good, to you punters, until the second half of the sentence. ;)

Heh, that's a bit optimistic. I'm hopeful that we can get something, but they're absolutely the favourites. And with Lawro, that's all that matters...the day he picks a non-marquee team to win away against one of the big six is the day that the nurses take him off to the retirement home.

It's hard to make any prediction since i can't tell which players Moyes will use. If he sends, for example, Nani, Rooney, Welbeck and Van Persie, I would be very affraid. But, on the other hand, if he plays with Valencia/Young or Giggs/Januzaj instead of some of the above mentiond players, in that case i feel we would have good odds for taking a point or 3 in this game.

I think we have a chance against ManU as we are playing well, but I hope there isn't too much despair if we lose one game against last season's champions. A loss will not mean we are suddenly a bad team and all hope is lost...we should dust ourselves up and get ready for the next game. I want us to play well and not to let in more than the odd goal.

True. It's not imperative to get a good result against United on Old Trafford. I won't be at least dissapointed if we lose. I just expect us to play our game and give them a hard time, and then, hopefully, the result will come.

Just seen Davis on Sky...when asked if JWP could play for England in the World Cup, he replied that stranger things have happened. James should thank him for the ringing endorsement :)

It's a great thing to say by Davis but even if JWP and Luke had an amazing season I wouldn't want them in the squad for the summer. Euros or the following world cup then yes.

Its a shame that their CL fixture next week is at home, rather than away. And on Wednesday, rather than Tuesday. Much less reason for Moyes to rest players with that game in mind.

And added to that, he's already had his fingers burnt doing exactly that by losing to WBA. I can't see him risking that again, not with the pressure it would surely put him order should it backfire again.

I'm expecting a near-damm full-strength Utd side. And most likely, due to his international goals, spear-headed by an RVP with his mo-jo back.

Interesting to note that while one of our central midfielders, Steven Davis, has tipped Luke Shaw for the World Cup, another one, Victor Wanyama, has said that Luke is the best player at the club!

Yep, they will be taking this seriously, you can't surprise a team of champions like united at home twice. I wish west brom hadn't beaten them to be honest.

Having said that, I am so excited! I feel like a kid on christmas Eve, I just want to get on the road to old Trafford, make some noise and see what the boys can do. It's my first time visiting Old Trafford, I've always wanted to go :) it's even better as it really is a win-win for us, as we aren't expecting to take anything from them. The players can just go out and express themselves
