Thought Fonte and Lovren were both great. Possible penalty aside Lovren didn't put a foot wrong. Wanyama was solid, sure, but how many times did he give the ball away?

And I'd quite like us to take good chances from open play, but I can't really complain about the overall performance.

Wanyama is a liability with the ball even in preseason when everyone was raving about his ball control I thought it was far too loose and complacent. He gave away a freekick that boruc shouldn't have been able to save and he gifted them possession far too many times, he looks good driving forward and he does a lot of great things like that interception at the start of the second half but it is far more important for him to cut out these catastrophic errors.

That said I would keep him in the side even though his awareness seems to be getting worse not better

I just want to make a point here. The last time I was in the Queens Hotel, St. Ives, Cornwall, I watched, on my iPad, availing myself of the excellent free WiFi in that estimable establishment, Southampton tonking Liverpool 3-1. Imagine my delight, that on my return to this fantastic watering hole, using the same free WiFi on the same iPad, I see probably the best Southampton victory of the last 10 years.

I am retiring in 6 weeks time and I have one question for you all. Should I move to Cornwall?

Absolutely superb TEAM performance and fair play to Poch for keeping the same team as last week...Ok there was still no goal from open play but there was a return to high energy pressing and breaking quickly and I honestly think that this XI are the best to play that way. Adam and JayRod's workrate and energy are crucial and allow Luke and Nat to bomb forward.

Only negative I'm going to refer to today, because anything more would be churlish. I've spotted Wanyama's ability to give the ball away on several occasions. I also remember the Kilmarnock manager referring to his belief that you need not pressurise Wanyama [when at Celtic] because he'll give the ball back to you. However, he is a ball winner too and a dictator in midfield. He brings more positives than negatives. If he can eliminate his misplaced passing he'll be fantastic.

Wish I'd been able to stay to watch Steven Davis come on. I'm a big fan of Davis. Does an awful lot of unseen work, but when he does shine, he really shines. Against Barnsley, for example, he absolutely bossed the game. Today's opposition was far better of course, but he's a really good player all the same.

Of the 60 odd minutes I saw I don't think I could pick out a MOTM. They were all equal or better than their Liverpool counterparts. We've got a bloody good team.

I'm not one to criticise the referee, but weren't all of the officials poor today? For both sides as well, although luckily it seemed to be mostly in our favour.

We certainly have, and on all the evidence so far, Dejan Lovren is Man of the Season. Absolutely immense performance from him, and that includes the non-penalty for a challenge that could have been given but which he had to make because Shaw hadn't nailed it. The goal was the icing on the cake.

On your personal level Chilco, it wouldn't be the worst decision of your life. My own childhood heart remains in Cornwall. On a logical level, you could always live nearer to Southampton, although if it were me I'd possibly choose Cornwall anyway. :)

I agree, he made a few appalling mistakes. But he also does a lot of things right, let just hope he'll get better with time.

Shaw and Clyne were simpy outstanding. Clyne was left to deal with Moses and he did a superb job. Shaw was caught out of position a few times, but he also had a good game. He was sprinting forward at every occasion!

You've been drinking but I'll forgive you :1980_boogie_down:

I'd just like to add that tomorrow we will either be above one of the Manchester clubs or level on points with both after 5 matches. That ain't too shabby a start!

Tremendous performance. Well done the whole team. I felt we could get something today, shame Lambert didn't score first as I would of been quids in! Liking our team very much. What did Merse say at the final whistle on SSN?

Can you imagine if we keep all these young players together? What are Shaw, Clyne and JWP going to be like when they are all 22? I am drooling. But not in a gay way.

    Well, maybe a little bit.

    Over the moon!

Won't beat the feeling of Steve Moran rolling the ball into the empty net in 81, but pretty damn close.

Well done lads, great performance, now lets win the next two home games.

I'm not going to go into details, but the third Mrs Chilco has decided to go her own way, so I am something of a free agent. My NHS pension could get me a season ticket next year, but the further West I am, the luckier I get.

All this is under the influence of too many pints of St. Austell Tribute you have to understand.

    COYR!
