Caldicot if you need defenders we will give you Gypes and Naylor for Maynard, fair swap Dave Jones would be a great shout as next manager for you.
Funnily enough my missus (who is still a wurzle despite my best efforts to educate her ) was saying teh same thing about DJ and how she thinks he'd do a good job. I did agree to a point as I think he'd bring stability. The size of the club is about right for DJ with a chance to grow with any success. However, I did point out that after working wonders on a relative shoestring with us for years and getting us to a point where we starting to spend serious money, would he want to go back to a (sort of) square one again and have to build a club up again? Saying that, beyond some punditry work there doesn't seem to be much of a clamour for his services....
Surprised actualy Brizzle. I would have expected DJ to be employed somewhere by now. Perhaps he just needs a nice long break from it all and does'nt fancy working lower down the leagues,so until a "decent" sized club comes a sniffing.............. CityAce.......we are already in the mire this term, don't try to make it worse mate!
No worries caldicot mate.. it might have woken Sparkey up anyway! Yeah definitely, you're welcome to Gyepes if you want him and as somebody else said Naylor too! If you're after midfielders.. Gavin Rae is available on a free!
Those 3 could only improve the Wurzels and I'm sure they would be up to giving us a hard time in the return game. DJ to Ashton Gate, hmmm? To me Millens is a dead man walking so it is not beyond possibility that he would like the challenge over there. Commutable from the Vale so no need to uproot the family either. That would also make for an interesting return game. Were he to take it up he would have my good wishes apart from that 1 game. Good chance to take points off our competitors.
Good post Benni, I'm really excited with the Turner signing, not only with his defensive work but the number of goals he can score or lay on at corners and free kicks. I bet Earnie & Miller will get quite a few knock downs. Hope he's fit enough to fit right in.
The squad isnt as good as last year. We are probably a mid table outfit and a work in progress. Malky though is a much , much better manager than Jones. A couple of loan signings with pace and Malky will get us close. Malky will slowly build us into contenders again im sure. Id love Dave Jones to go to Bristol City. Cant see him going there though until next season. As it stands isnt he on gardening leave with a massive wage from us.
I know what you mean Hilts, despite the players we've brought in, in certain areas being much better other atributes are of course lacking, making us not the same threat we were last season. As for DJ being on gardening leave, that hasn't been confirmed by the club, people talk about what he has been given and what he hasn't, truth is none of us know for sure. I'd like to see him being given another go by another club and i'm sure Bristol City would be a perfect position for him. Remains to be seen though.
The two biggies are Jay and Bellamy. In some ways, over the season I think Jay may be less of a loss that expected. We got to the stage where the game revolved around him. When he was having an off day we failed to fire and when he was missing (sometimes when he was on the field) we lost formation totally. I don't think we have one player that will be so instrumental this season. I even believe that McPhail for Whitts will be cover provided Gunner or Kiss are doing the grunt along side him. Bellamy, due to his sheer class is difficult (impossible?) to replace. However, we can (and last season could) put other players in to do a similar job, just not as well. So, more of a team approach, less dependancy on one player, the ability to play the same game plan with different players and the ability to play different formations. A way to go, but the potential to be a better squad. As for DJ to Brizzle, the could do far worse. I'dhave thought the two teams that would benefit most from him would be Brum or Coventry. Both seem in similar positions to where we were when he joined us. Strapped for cash and having a fire sale! I hope he gets back into a job when he is ready and wants to.
When the umbrella man walks out DJ is going to forest, and he is taking Whittingham with him. FACT!!!
