The guys a legend who in many ways epitomises our rise through the leagues. The timing of the Preston game just a few weeks after he left maybe wasn't the best time for him to make a farewell with the dust settling on his transfer, having to win over new fans etc. Given the chance in the future i'm sure the fans and Ash would like to acknowledge one another and for us to thank Ash for us loyal service. I'm sure along with Deano, Elliott, Waggy, Chilton, Carter and the 80s big names he will pass into city folklore and remembered by generations to come. I'll certainly be reminding my kids, grandkids of his acheivements.

Ash never really got the credit he deserved. He would never claim to be the most gifted of players but his hard work, enthusiasm and leadership were superb. Opposing players knew, only too well, when he was close. I've been watching HCAFC since 1966 and he's in there with the best, it's very hard to say who was the very best but he would certainly captain the first 11. Personally I miss him at the KC, he still hasn't been replaced on the field and for a Brummie he made a great Hullensian. It's a shame he couldn't have stayed on and then gone on to the coaching side when his playing days were over. A very friendly, down to earth guy too with no star attitude whatsoever. Good luck to him in the future, a true sportsman.

Pretty sure that everyone here agrees that Ashbee is a club legend, i pretty much agree to. Don't think anyone doubts what he did for the club.

But when a play leaves under the circumstances he did, it always leaves a bitter taste. What i heard he left was down due to some antics with Jimmy and possibly one of the youngsters(Liam Cooper i believe). Not sure what, thats all i know, but NP disagreed with some of his antics definately.
