Lambo is one of the most gracious & down to earth footballers you'll find in the modern age. If he didn't stop, there's a better reason than couldn't be bothered, I promise.

 

Try telling that to the girl and her father. He never even made an apology for not doing so.

I'm not saying you're lying, but that sounds completely out of character for him.

 

They can't stop every time though can they? Maybe the club designated some to sign, maybe he was in pain and was heading straight to the bus. Bit harsh of you to label him with that if you know nothing off him or ever encountered him before.

Remember there is always "just another signature to be done" and as someone said above, you will struggle to meet a more humble professional footballer than Rickie Lambert. Don't be so quick to judge.

 

Maybe a polite letter to the Club explaining the situation without sounding bitter might get you a reasonable response, better than airing it in public without knowing the full facts,

 

I can guarantee you if Rickie finds out about this he will send a signed shirt to the girl. He's a top bloke and wouldn't deliberately ignore a girl in a wheelchair.

It's nothing to do with underrating a (once) cracking player, and everything to do with realism. As FLT says, it's a lot to do with the long-standing back problem. I would be fairly confident in predicting that Rickie will not be our lead striker next year, and, if we're wanting to push on from where we are now, nor should he be. I realise that may be an unpopular position to take, but really, rather than being underrated, I think people might overrate his ability to be continually effective.

 

Indeed it should be remembered that he has been unfit for a long time and struggling with his back for a year or more now. The guy is still pulling his weight even though he is in clear need of a rest.
