We have a number of CB's who can be good on their day (including Hill and Ramage but not Sh***u) but I expect none of them to dominate opposing forwards. We need a class CB. Hill and Orr could get crucified by a speedy winger and we need one or two new faces to give them competition for their positions (we have no real cover for Hill at LB). Ditto a holding midfielder to compete with, or stand in for, Faurlin and Derry. I dismiss Hulse as an option up front. HH misses too many chances. If we are to stay up, we could do with another goalscorer

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So apart from two centre backs, two full backs, a defensive midfielder and a centre forward you're happy yes?

Don't want much then.... Got a spare £100m?

Believe it or not, I'm normally very positive but I've found this summer, and the behaviour of the deadly duo, incredibly frustrating. I am very excited about Bothroyd, though.

Mackie has had a set-back in his recovery, so it could be while before he's anywhere near match fit. I agree with Rodders about Hulse...he's crap! I still think a fit Dyer is a better player than Routeledge, as his 33 England caps would suggest.

Agreed Rodders. Totally share your frustration mate. Just think the Tarbs announcement has given us some hope and a bit of a lift, that's all.

No, like many others on this thread, I only said one CB and one (possibly two) FBs. Unlike some, I think Derry, despite his advancing years, might more than hold his own in the Prem but if he or Faurlin gets injured, I don't think we have anyone in the same mould to cover them. Bothroyd is our only out and out goalscorer up front and he was injury prone in the second half of last season. Hence the squad could use some quality cover there.

On other threads, I have praised the prudence of the Mittals last season and I haven't changed my mind. I don't want £100 million but £10 million would have been nice and we are being out spent by just about every other team in the division.

    Are you always this aggressive?

I started reading this post and thought: Jesus Bakes, you're finally talking sense and then realised it was a quote from someone else!!

Ah well, too much to hope for I guess :)

    Very good Swords.... ;)

£10m Rodney? Try buying a Premier League back 4, Prem League Defensive Midfielder and premier League Centre Forward for that. Aint gonna happen.

Warnock assembled a Championship winning side with next to nothing and he would do better in the premiership with £10 million in his pocket than a few bits of fluff. I trust the man to spend wisely but our owners clearly do not. Five, maybe four, players, average cost £2.0-2.5 million. For god's sake, throw the man a bone, give him some chance of working that miracle.

Rodders best get down the market and flog some of those Russian video recorders, you're not gonna get any joy from Bakesy I'm afraid
