I hope you're joking about Adkins. I agree we tried to sign players but we failed for whatever reason and ultimately that's Cortese's responsibility. However, I put the word blame in quote marks for a reason. Without knowing the exact reason why players weren't signed you can only speculate on who (if anyone) should be blamed. If we identified 12 defensive targets and were quoted silly prices for all of them then I'm not sure anyone should be blamed. On top of that, even if we as fans believed Cortese was to blame, he runs the show and won't be going anywhere.
He was a rat-faced dick-head as a player, but for some reason I don't know what it is, he's a very good analyst. Maybe its him having his cock no longer sucked by Fergie that has him objective...even about Manchester United. Yes he does praise them, but he doesn't lavish them with praise in the same way Charlie Nicholas does Arsenal and Glenn ''Religious freak'' Hoddle does the spuds.
Gary doesn't even side with his brother. When Phil dived, Gary said he might have to give up his TV job if his brother did that again. Like others, Gary not my favourite person (though wouldn't mind if he played for us now!), but is a very good pundit as he actually understands football and is even handed.
