red <cheers> mate I think I'm going to do a 1 week experiment. Pick 1 nap each day and back it to place. No more bets, then after 1 week check profit/loss <ok>

Oddy - I take it your more a jumps fan than a flat and as its just the back end of the flat and start of the jumps i find i can be a bit hit or miss. Just seems that there are always ones you know can run well but it tends to be the first run, or trying a new distance or whatever reason...

Im a bit sketchy at this time of year, (sorry all year round... <laugh>) and at the start of the flat...

Looking forward to a few more jumps races, as i just prefer them... <ok>

Oddy, fixed place betting is the way forward if you want to try that sort of thing. You can say if you like the price and still bet on what you think is right without having to trust others to make a price for you. I would look at the fixed odds bookmakers or Betfair.

red I find the flat form more dependable in the "quality" races ie group / listed. For me there is too much racing on the flat and far too many "digibet" class 6 handicaps. I do prefer the National Hunt racing and find the form there more dependable generally. There is so much form to try and keep a handle on on the flat, you'd spend your whole life studying. There are fewer NH races and its easier to pick a race that is likely to throw up a good priced winner (or perhaps I should say 2nd <laugh>). For me good priced is anywhere between 5/4 and 3/1, that's the kind of price I tend to go for. I'm not one of these talents that pulls 12/1 shots out of the hat every couple of days (like TopClass) but if I see a decent looking 9/4 shot (like Cappagh the other day) that's what I like to go for.

Gonna do the place bet week for a laugh, lets see what happens

fwiw if you spend enough time on it then I think it can be a very good winning formula. Its not for me, no joy in getting a winner that pays a fraction on the place market. Today being the only one for a while <laugh>
