Morning all. Nice days racing today but looks pretty trappy to me. Well done to everyone on the write ups. Great reading as always. Is anyone who lives close to York able to comment on the weather overnight and this morning?
Some superb write ups today, excellent from ROTO and a nice one from Nass ROTO: you have convinced me to have an EW punt on your Ginger Ted, backed the horse a few times and hopefully the money will come as they like a little punt. Nice watching this type of horse that loves running through fields instead of going round them Don: I am closer to York than you we have sun in Catterick! If they have had the weather we have it will be proper good ground with a soft side to it mate
I'm not even in the country but someone else said this to me regarding the weather "The track had light rain yesterday and its been dry overnight atm the sun is out and the forcast is for decent weather if anything the ground should be on the soft side of good"
Think am going to have a punt on Kanaf today, would have to say it finished well in the stewards cup under a very tender hills ride whilst also having trouble in running.
Morning all, 'working' from home today. Just a coincidence it coincides with the first day of York. Honest. I've looked at Hereford's card and although there's nothing hitting me in the face as a great bet I do like bumpers so i've given it a good look through. The Curtis debutante is favourite. AP on board. The yard are brilliant in bumpers at Hereford with a 75% strike rate. It has to be in the shake up and is the selection. However, for more interest in this race the old Wardy eye was drawn to the mount of Aidan Coleman. Amber Sun is very well related in the context of this race. It's a good jockey booking and I am tempted at 20/1 to have a few sheckles each way. At York: The Acomb is difficult. At 20/1 I am more than happy to back Moon Pearl from the Beckett yard. A debut winner who beat some decent horses at Ascot. Nawwar and Gerfalcon have subsequently won and amongst Nawwar's victims was Grandeur who was a very easy winner last night. It doesn't represent top top form but at 20/1 i'm hopeful Moon Pearl can improve ten lbs from it's first run and be in the mix today. Seville should be winning his race today. Await the Dawn might be good enough to win today but given the strength of the competition it's surely not a bet. Having said that if Coolmore start throwing money at him then it's as good as won before they break with the quality of the form lines they have within their own yard. In the last Eagles peak might be good enough to win on raw ability but I personally think you'd be mad to back a Stoute runner in a 17 horse handicap with only one run under it's belt. They've had plenty of horses with similar expectation placed on their shoulders in the recent past and have come up agonisingly short. I don't see why that isn't at least a possible outcome today. There's better value 5/2 shots most days of the week.
Just looked at the Yorkshire Oaks. Is this the best renewal in recent memory? It must be up there. Once again i'm almost angered at the way the mighty Banimpire is dismissed by the bookies. Brilliant for me who will be wading in once again each way at 8/1 but how is she a bigger price than Wonder of Wonders? She's a really, really good horse who definitely has a group one in her. She's incredibly tough and when she hits the front tomorrow it will take a very good one to go past her.
3 who could go well at decent EW prices today: 210C: James Given sends 2 newcomers but i like Cloud Cuckooland who is nicely bred. 330N: Art History catches the eye under a 5lb claimer, ground and trip look ideal. 810H: Although Miss Curtis/McCoy have a great partnership in bumpers (far better than Jonjo/McCoy) sat nicely at the bottom receiving all the allowances is Amber Sun. Mark Rimell is more than capable of getting one ready on its debut so an EW punt havs been taken Rounders: I am very much with you on Banimpire tomorrow
A massive threat Don. Tough race last time for Blue Bunting though whilst I know that Banimpire takes her racing well. If anything she thrives with each run.
Morning hope everyone is well, Nap for today is Fort Bastion in the 230 at York. I will alos be having a Lucky 15 on Ritual, Fort Bastion, Namibian and Midday. Good luck with your bets today.
I've just bet on everything Fallon rides today with the exception of the 4-20 where I've backed On the hoof. Someone mentioned Dandy Nichiolls in the sprints - surely Mr easterby is the same in the handicaps?........... Nap would be Zumni in the 2-30
