Yes. We beat Hull, Fulham, West Brom and Cardiff. That does go back to when we played Arsenal, Chelsea, etc though. You could equally say we've won four of our last 11 which sounds a bit better (though still not brilliant admittedly).
West Brom had a poor middle and end and still finished eighth due to their great start, hopefully we will do the same.
Blimey. If I am being honest I think this season I have been swept up in the 'Champions League, Southampton are brilliant' hype that has emanated from a lot of areas, so every poor run, every poor performance and every bad result hits harder and makes me more niggly and fed-up than it should do. After all I have be following and supporting Saints for a long period of time [44 years] so I've should be used to most footballing experiences [apart from winning division titles]. We are Southampton and our current record is impressive for Southampton. We play in a lopsided competition where our chances of significant success are limited and unlikely and perhaps I should be grateful for our current showings. Having said this I am still mightily irritated by the Sunderland FA Cup defeat and losing to West Ham United and drawing at home with teams like Stoke City etc. does still make me clench my jaw thinking about it. I have a horrible feeling we won't get result at Palace regardless of my feelings.
MP mentioned that Kelvin Davis has a long term injury....better get down on our collective knees and pray that Boruc remains fit.
If I'm honest, I have felt that since our great start we've been a bit crap in terms of points, but we have had harder games and injuries. Even with this bad run, we're eighth and almost guaranteed a top half finish.
Without trying to sound like I need psychiatric care I sometimes find it hard to stop the 'foot-stomping little boy who want Saints to win every game and it's just not fair...' taking complete control over the '51-year old man that's seen it all more than once or twice and shouldn't worry about it too much'. Ho-hum it'll be close-season soon.....
I am still very disappointed with the attitude shown towards the Sunderland cup match (I am referring to the fa cup although I might as well be talking about both). The season was offering so much more. I think many others are deflated too maybe also some of the players and I fear for the rest of the league campaign - hopefully we will pick up tomorrow
Ah, those Championship days. Loved the kit. And in any attack, it felt like all that had to happen was for one of the two Dannys to pop in a cross and Rickie would head it into the goal without too much fuss. Don't think much of that Clyne defender chappie - he'll never make it to a noteworthy club... Vin
Felt weird seeing clyne... obvious fonte connection but forgot about clyne till that corner. I've said it before, championship = so much space. Why?
Yep, I was at that one and we had the whole stand, it was insane, great day out. I get the feeling this is going to be one of those matches where we aren't expecting too much and the team go out and pleasantly surprise us, think Cardiff on Boxing Day. Anyway onto important matters...so how about these cheerleaders then........
We always worry about returning players...be nice if Clyne was involved against Palace. I want to see Rickie that happy again...miss the old Lambert smile
We can get within one point of Newcastle with a win today, but that has made me notice that the Toon don't have a match till next Saturday. Anyone know why? Presumably more linked with their would be opponents than them.
