Mauricio Pochettino on Jack Cork: "There's not much news on Jack Cork. We need to assess him properly. We are overall very sad about this. Because this season it is another player who perhaps faces a long time out."
57 points and 8th, looks like. We'd need five wins in nine games to reach that, which is an uphill fight to say the least.
Dd anyone who watched the stream notice the shot of the Palace fans sheilding their eyes from the low sun? The lad dead centre sheilding his eyes with his hand had a baseball cap on back to front
A deserved victory. We weren't brilliant, but we were good enough. When you get down to it, Palace only had one remotely dangerous shot in the whole match (Bolasie in the first half). They mainly crossed the ball into the box, but we were concentrated and defended very well and I'm happy we kept a clean sheet. I though Shaw and Lallana were enormous, as well as Jay. He wasn't involved much, but in the end it's his hard work and willingness to chase every ball that won us the game. I have conflincting feelings about Wanyama. He did a lot of good things and surely is one of the reasons why we haven't concieded. At moments he also looked more assured on the ball then he usually does. But on the other hand, he did pass the ball to the opponents on a number of occasions (I remember at least three times). It's not a big number of lost balls and everyone misplaces a few passes, but thing with Victor is he loses the ball so unnecessary at times. He makes unforced errors. I clearly remember an instance when he had time and space on the ball inside our half of the field and he tried to pass the ball forward between two Palace players, and naturally tha pass was intercepted. There was no need to attempt that pass as he had other options and there was only a remote possibility that even a much better passer would succeed attempting the same thing. That failed pass was therefore unnecessary and, how to put it, memorable, because Palace could've catched us on the break and it gave a scare to fans, who will probably remember that failed pass and argue Wanyama is losing the ball way too often and is a liability. But he really isn't that bad of a passer. What he probably needs is to be more wiser with his distribution of the ball, and it will come with time. As I've said before, he did a tonne of good stuff and I think he merits a place in the starting eleven, even if it means we need to put up with an occasional stray pass until he improves in that department.
According to another thread young people are much brighter than their parents. It would seem in this case that the only thing that was bright was the sun.
Have to agree with most of the sentiments above. He brings a lot to the team, breaking up the play and protecting our back line, but his final pass as times is awful. Think the Celtic fans said the same thing about him, so we new what to expect, still he's young and will only get better?
I guess there will never be Saints game, win or lose, where someone won't have a good moan about something. I don't actually disagree totally, but when we win I would rather we praised the good bits rather than drone on and on about the obvious things that we were mostly aware of anyway.
I usually moan because we play well without winning. Get fed up with other teams scoring from their only chances. Today was our day.
Very average game of football but overall we were just better than them. Palace deserved nothing and got nothing.
Just back from the game. Very solid performance from us, with a well taken goal by Jay. Defensively solid, Rickie was unlucky not to score when he hit the post but had another off day, and Webb just officiated the game very poorly. There is no way that there should have been 6 yellows, and 5 to us. Still, good 3 points, good support and atmosphere at Selhurst, and it still is a dump.
Not sure, from my stream, you could argue with any of the bookings. Except maybe one should have been red!
And Schneiderlin. Another ref might have given both of them. Fortunately Webb's on "no controversy" mode before the world cup so he never gives anything remotely contentious.
