I have a slender communication line and I'm going to ask. You never know.

Looking down the page as i woke up this morning almost every thread was on the same thing so i think its time to look forward a bit. Now i saw a stat yesterday that none of our last 10 managers have won there first game in charge and i can firstly see this stat continueing against a very good Everton team. Unfortunatly as, if or when we lose on monday the boo boys will be out in force crying about the whole thing. However on the positive side of hings a glace at the league tablr suggests that after our 2 very difficult games upcoming (in which any sane Saints fan would not expect more than maybe a point) we are extremly unlikely to be in the bottom 3. Villa and Wigan would both need to pick up 4 or more points in the next two games. By the time we play next weekend hopefully the players would have adapted well to the new regime before a VERY important game against Wigan. Rather tbe managerial change now than 3 days before that game. There is also enough time left in the transfer window for MP to get in a couple of players he feels would improve the squad.

Enough of the negativity Saints fans and carry on supporting the team even if you dont support the board/manager.

Ps excuse spelling etc, written quickly on phone.

I think that the majority of Saints fans are going to support the team, no matter what. Lots of emotion yesterday obviously and it is easy to get annoyed with each others opinions on NC's decision in such circumstances.
I really liked where we were going under Nigel Adkins and how we were getting there, the support for him was immense - and that has all been taken away at a stroke. The biggest regret that i have is that we Saints fans will not have a chance to say thanks and cheerio to Nigel in person.
On Mon night the team needs our support like never before, against a very good side.

Agreed, would have been worse to sack Adkins during our poor run if you ask me, would have been even harder for the new man. The timing seems odd to many, but I can sort of understand it. The players can keep doing what they're doing and give MP some time to acclimatise.

Let us know if you do get a response. I would love to hear something from Cortese that might soften the blow a little, though I suppose a good run of results will have that effect.

So, the bit I have never understood when clubs bring in new staff is the adjustment time allowed. Currently you have picked up form, you had a blinding result away at chelski, your above the drop zone with a stronger squad than those around you. Villa will most likely ditch their manager soon, and Wigan have flirted with the drop for as long as any one can remember, QPR under Arry I had down as certs to go with Wigan and villa.........but now Cortese has pulled this stunt i think the odds are on you to go?

How will the squad adapt to a bnew manager and coaching staff? They will bring their own ideas to implement........you dont get time in the prem to take a minute to reflect........if you do your cut adrift. Its too tight at the moment, it always is in the prem..............

I would have thought that Adkins would have been given the time to see the job through to the end of the season, you had enough to stay up for sure.....then he could have made changes in the summer.............but hey, its footie, there is no loyalty!

That middle para was what i was trying to explain now. Next two games are unlikely to be full of points so better they have two weeks before an important game rather than jumping straight into a 6 pointer.

Those who imagine Markus Liebherr as some kind of benevolent sop who would never have had the heart to sack anyone need to remember he was a billionaire. You don't get to be one of those without having a ruthless streak.

Also even when he was alive Cortese ran the club. That's what he wanted remember?

As any of you i am internally grateful from Nigel and what he has done for our club. The biggest thing for me was how much he loved the club even though he came from far away.
But yet our chairman has made a choice that it was time to change, still i know Adkins would not want us to get downbeat, he is the most positive man we know! This was just showed by his note to the players.
But Cortese has not made a wrong choice at our club before from pardew to getting 12 million for chambo. So i still believe he is making the right decision i have no reason to think otherwise.
I sincerley hope Nigel gets the Blackpool job and gets them promoted. I will be waiting for the day that whoever Nigel joins come to saints marys whether it the cup or league. Then we can show him hes really gone but not forgotten.
Good Luck Mauricio time to get off the buss and follow mauricio.

BP I'm sure you mean well but that's a load of balls. If we had enough to stay up before, we have enough to stay up now.

I think Nicola has given his explanation. He picked Nigel to get us in the PL...NA got us there earlier than expected or he might still be here. Nicola doesn't feel he's right for the next stage. He could have axed him earlier in the season, but gave him a chance after a terrible start. We are happy to stop losing and look like we are avoiding relegation, but Nicola isn't happy with what he's watching. Tbf to Nigel, I don't think he got the players in the summer he wanted. He knew he needed classier defenders than he got (though Clyne now looks more promising) and an experienced GK.

The new manager appears to be a good fit for us. He has been offered good jobs in the past, but chose to stay as Espanyol manager even though they had severe money problems because he was loyal to his team.

Just seen players going in on Sky...the reporter said Luke Shaw was especially concerned as he had signed a 5-yr-deal this week!!!

Mods, could you merge some of these threads together. The amount of threads created in the last 24 hours is enormous. I feel swamped by them all!

Agree, let's have one for positive messages like this one, and one for mourning, and be done with it.

Fran, I hope you're right about the new manager. Don't think he'll be needing his loyalty though. That seems to have no place in the modern game, or even the modern world, sadly.
