What he said, my opinion in wanting him out is not based on 3 games it's the previous seasons I'm judging him on. When he has a full team to pick from, he still blindly plays lads out of position and that weakens us from the kick off and when injuries and suspensions bite (as they always do) he's totally clueless. As a post I read on here stated his plan B is to carry on with plan A so tactically he's useless. Once or twice a season he gets it right, but we need more than once or twice a season.
Hughes for me too, with Moyes a close second and MoN in third. The sooner one of them takes charge, the better, because I've had a gut full of crazy selections, formations and tactics from Steve Bruce.
We need to put this is perspective lads. Who gives a flying F*** about MON. Hes turned us down before and tbh I cba with his constant whiny little voice. Good manager- yes, better than Bruce - debatable I agree these debates need to be brought up, but my god are we knee jerking here. Bruce is fine, if he doesn't sort it out by next transfer window fair does have this debate but ffs we are 2 games in!!! We've played good football, just lacked cutting edge. I.e. we need to bed in the new lads and buy at least 1 more striker and a left winger. As long as Bruce knows that we'll be fine, hes made the third best signing of all time IMO in Sessegnon (you could argue Bent too!) - Behind SuperKev and Sir Niall - so for crying out loud stop this debate FOR NOW and get behind him. Ok we dnt agree with the 2-8-0 formation but hey, we were never gonna beat Brighton down there! They're on a crest of a wave right now CONTEXT lads, ha'way we'll be top half in a few matches :-D
Like Moyes and think he could work with our squad, just think he is loyal to Everton and we wouldn't be a big enough attraction to move, Like Martin O'Neill, apparently he likes us, but.... I camt explain. More money? More turmoil? Hughes. Aye. For me, Hughes. x
I admire your optimism GDT, but my pessimism has been eating away at me since January. Last nights team selection, formation and tactics proved to me that he has passed the point of no return and has to go.
For those of you who are wishing for MON - think you should speak to a few Vile fans. Choice between Bruce and MON - SB every time Bart
I think at times that we as fans give too much credence to the managers influene, and should therefore look at ourselves more closely as to why we are facing these ongoing problems.
Ill say it again; MON is severely overrated. You could put a monkey in charge of Celtic and win titles. Hell even Strachan managed it and he showed what a truly appalling manager he was at Boro shortly after. As for Villa, O'Neil frittered away money worse than Bruce, and didn't sell players to balance the books like Bruce has. He also put players on stupid wages (Carew, Reo-Coker etc) He is also a whinging little ****er who stamps his feet when he doesnt get what he wants, and was HUGELY unpopular with the players. This article says it all really; http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/10/martin-oneill-aston-villa
I know I am maybe being a bit optimistic, but my point is really about MON vs Bruce. The fact is, we have Bruce and hes led us to the best finish we've had since the Golden Years (i.e. 1998-2002) [In my lifetime at least] so we should be backing our lads, we have some really good players, we just need a couple more. Add - Cahill, Cisse (the Freiburg one) /Crouch (i know a MASSIVE U turn from me) and Bellamy and I think we'll add that cutting edge. The question is - will we do it? We're talking 25 mill (ish) for three and unless we sell Gordon, I'll be suprised if we do it Fingers crossed though
