I thought that as soon as I heard the news that Appleton had gone, but then I remembered that Nigel does actually have two brain cells to rub together.
No one will be taking it until the end of the season. They won't be appointing anyone until the end of the season.
Adkins taking over at Reading before we play them would be a nightmare! What''s worrying about this is the timing of the news last week that Nigel had decided to dispute the terms of his dismissal and therefore that he is free to take another job. I thought it a bit odd that Cortese would argue over the contractual payments - people say he is a hard nosed businessman but actually from what I have read he is known to be hard but fair e.g. in relation to the Davis and Clyne transfers. I have a suspicion that Cortese was happy to pay the contract in full but wanted Adkins on gardening leave for the rest of this season for exactly this reason. The Reading job has now come up and Adkins wants to be considered and hence the dispute.
Yes, why not go completely rudderless into the last leg of the season when you're only four points above the relegation zone?! What a bunch of idiots they really are - what on earth is the point in doing what they did?
I've got it, England. Seriously, he could do better than Roy, he's worked with L1 style players so qualifying wouldn't be an issue. May well put a few big name noses out of joint, but we are supposed to be going through a transition at the moment anyway (yeah, like phoning Rio is building for the future ). It would also help me to start enjoying internationals again, its been a while now. And lastly, I don't want to see us up against him anytime soon, I'll always wish him well, so I live in fear he might just take a Reading job and stick a spanner in the works.
Farnborough don't have an assistant manager (as far as I'm aware), he could always become assistant manager at Farnborough. Day and Adkins would be unstoppable.
I missed that happening today, what's the record for most clubs managed in one season, he's still got time for another couple!
Blackburn have announced that their temporary manager will continue in his post until the end of the season. Does that mean that Appleton is a kind of anti-manager...you are better off without one. Reading obviously feel the same.
Reading are likely to go down and may need a bit of re-building next season. Brighton are on the up and could still even go up this season. If I were Poyet I'd at least wait until the end of the season before making any decisions.
Blood n thunder clash coming up. It was already going to be pretty heated, but with him there, well that raises the stakes even further. Saying that, its better than Nige! Phew.
Just stumbled over this again and found I couldn't watch it anymore: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15126250
I watched some old videos the other night. The poetry, the last 2 seasons and celebrations. Good times.
