AP and Nigel have one thing in common that Twitchy does not, they both left with things in a reasonable state, so in our eyes we have no reason to dislike them for how they got the team to perform, it could have been so much worse if the sackings were in a moment of deep despair, relegation and disarray, and we would have been on their backs big time for ever more. Just a thought....
I'm looking forward to NA coming back some time in future seasons so we can give him a welcome. Shame we'll have to thrash his team though
Bookies have suspended betting on Nigel Adkins to be the next Reading manager. Supposedly going to be announced in the next 48 hours. Madejski said they have found their man and he will be in place by the end of the week.
Christ...this is going to put a hell of a twist on the Reading game, I've got a very bad feeling about this.
Yeah, someone reported seeing him in Reading (could be any reason) and another guy who seems well respected on their forum says Nigel has been offered the job and does want it.
He was evens earlier. Makes sense, think he has a place in romsey so not far to travel. He's probably got the remit of getting them up rather than keeping them up this season, so I wish him good luck. Will be strange to see him in the Reading dugout when we play them, hopefully he will forget which team to manage and help us!!
Sure will be strange if Nigel is in that Reading dug-out, I'm not sure I'm ready to see him in another team's attire yet! But if he does, best of luck once this season is over. I might just not watch the game and lock myself in a dark room till it's over.
Graeme Murty was on Radio Berkshire earlier and was asked about Adkins. Nervous laughter and a refusal to comment...
Wasn't suspended as far as I know, his odds just came right in as the Leeds board meeting became known about.
Uurgh...the more I think about this the more I don't like it, I know it's a (very, very, very) long shot but if we could win the Chelsea game it would take so much pressure off the Reading match. Can you imagine if Adkins sent us down, the media would have a field day with it
Ha, yep. If I'm honest, I'm not concerned about him keeping them up or anything like that - but it would just be weird seeing him in a fellow relegation battlers dug-out. Will happen sooner or later. Would be odd watching Pochettino and Nigel shaking hands though. Just wait till the summer Nigel....
Yeah, I don't think he could keep them up, I'm not sure Mourinho could even if he bought Ronaldo with him. But let's face it if anyone is going to be able to set up a team to beat us...it's Nigel. In my eyes it's the biggest match we have left this season, winning it would sink Reading without trace and more or less guarantee us survival, I really cannot be arsed with an Adkins shaped spanner in the works!
Oh crap. Am I really reading this right. Nigel could be Reading's manager, and have a couple of weeks under his belt before he meets his old Saints side..? Tell you what, sports fiction doesn't get any more dramatic. EDIT: Gossip according to the BBC Football website... Former Spain star Luis Enrique, 42, has emerged as a shock contender to become Reading's new manager.
