The fact that Sutil may or may not be driving would indicate that it comes down to what finance he brings with him. I am assuming that FI are locked into an engine deal with Merc because if you are on your arse it would have made more sense to negotiate a free drive fro Bianchi with a free engine deal from Ferrari - that has to be worth 20 million a year including what you would ahve to pay for a driver?

Im guessing FI are having a real hard time.
    - Vijay getting it in the neck for money he owes across all his ventures
    - His airline and title sponsor of the f1 team is down and out
    - They are stuck in an expensive engine deal.
    - The driver they may end up with is not the driver they want

So maybe they will leave before Aus? Looks like a 10 team grid.

No FI means not PR, means we will be deprived of the greatest driver of this, past and future generations...
    Oh the pain!

Big disappointment for me, Sutil's had his time and Bianchi for me is one of the few young drivers who actually would deserve a seat.

That sucks, and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I see this in Autosport magazine:

Bianchi has more talent, Sutil has more money. What a shame, as in the past Force India were the only ones (excluding the four big teams) that signed their drivers based on talent rather than money. Hopefully Ferrari will respond with a better offer.

On a slightly different note, I can't see Di Resta staying in F1 after 2013.

I think it just comes down to the team entry into F1, it is much much harder for teams and drivers to become part of F1 now than it has ever been.
So for any progress, costs must decrease.

Sutil would be a better choice than Bianchi, he's a solid and a little underrated driver. It may be boring, but it is the sensible choice.

I must be the only one who rates Sutil here. He is very fast and came off his best season. The crashes were dissapearing and I think he was one of the beter development drivers as well. I count him as a skill driver rather than a pay driver.

Good news as far as I'm concerned.

To me, it looks like Force India would rather have both Bianchi and Sutil, if they could get out of Di Resta's contract, because they need the money. Whoever comes in, Di Resta will need to absolutely floor them to stand a chance of staying there next season, in my opinion. If it's Bianchi then he needs to show the rookie is no match for him. If it's Sutil, he got beaten 37-27 in 2011, so needs to show that he's improved over 2 seasons, or his ability won't be enough to make up for the lack of funding. Just my $0.02 anyway.

I've always rated him, I don't think he's world champion material but he's one of the most underrated and better midfield driver.

I was surprised when FI got rid of Sutil last year tbh, and always wondered if it was a racing decision or a PR one. I've always thought he was one of the better drivers, and I'm glad to see him back, if only to see his gay running.

As I said earlier, I like Sutil, but Bianchi is a future WDC and deserves the seat far, far more.
