I hope he can sort something somewhere, I still think he has potential but then so do others who never get the chance to realise it. Still, it's all very intriguing and rather telling that the economic crisis is hitting a sport which is famously awash with cash, same old story though: too much of it in too few hands.

Petrov's going to be the obvious link because he's Russian and so are Marussia, but before they signed Pic we all thought they'd go for Aleshin and we know how that turned out...

Very disappointing that Glock has been forced to make way for another pay driver. An experienced, solid and by reputation, very nice guy whose achievements always seemed to go unnoticed. I'm betting his replacement will bring in loads of cash and be paid very little in return.

Obviously gutted about @realTimoGlock having worked on his car from the start but let's hope we get someone with as much talent & knowledge!

Not sure if this is meant to be a coded message or something?

Jordan makes a good point: Jordan Irvine ‏@IrvineF1
@dchalmersf1 interesting that it comes just a few days after #Ferrari public ally announce they are looking for a drive for Bianchi..!

So Sutil to FI, Bianchi to Marussia?

    2013 Formula 1 line-up so far:

Red Bull     Sebastian Vettel  Mark Webber
    Ferrari      Fernando Alonso   Felipe Massa
    McLaren      Jenson Button     Sergio Perez
    Lotus        Kimi Raikkonen    Romain Grosjean
    Mercedes     Lewis Hamilton    Nico Rosberg
    Sauber       Nico Hulkenberg   Esteban Gutierrez
Force India  Paul di Resta     seat still available
    Williams     Pastor Maldonado  Valtteri Bottas
    Toro Rosso   Daniel Ricciardo  Jean
    -Eric Vergne
Caterham     Charles Pic       seat still available
Marussia     Max Chilton       seat still available
Glocks been getting a bit bogged down at Marussia anyway so its good for both sides that he moves on. No idea who will replace him but Petrov seems the obvious choice if he's interested.

What a sad day in F1. I can understand Marussia's decision but why did they sign him long term if what they really needed was a pay driver? Did the owners maybe make a bigger investment in the team on the assumption they would finish 10th in the constructors?

So who do they go for now, the guy with the money money (Senna? Razia?) or someone with a combination of proven talent and sponsors (Sutil?).

Think some people are losing sight of the fact that Glock was on £3million a year which is a lot considering the sort of team he was driving for, he was matched by Pic for most of the year which does not really justify having such a big wage so it makes sense for Maurissa to bring someone in who will actually bring funds and command a much smaller salary

Woke up this morning to finally see his departure confirmed, and while I was a little bit surprised at first, I understand Marussia's reasoning in hiring someone who will bring in more money. Doesn't mean I agree with it though; Glock is an extremely talented and experienced driver so for me I'm in the same boat as a lot of you in the fact that I think its a move that reflects poorly on the sport.

Also, Petrov does seem the most likely to fill that position from anyone I can think of. I don't think Kobayashi has the funding to return currently, even though we still have a few spots left open.

Disappointed with the BBC (as usual, what happened to the fail thread?) with Glock leaving, it seems appropriate to have a video online. His 3 podiums? His first row start with Toyota? Maybe an overtake or two? Nope, they go with him ploughing into a wall 3 years ago and getting carried away on a stretcher. Thanks BBC, what a wonderful homage to his career.

Red Bull confirm that Sebastien Buemi is to continue as their test and reserve driver in 2013. Rules him out of any potential race seats (although he was a extreme outside bet).

**Nah, heard it was certain he was going to DTM.
**Massa said he would be the only Brazilian on the grid.
    **Doesn't have the funds.
**Doubt it, he refuses to get more sponsors and Marussia want money.
