Dave walker wasn't a bad driver, he won 25 of 32 races in his F3 championship winning season a year or so before, Senna's team-mates were pay drivers who did score points, multiple times. Fittipaldi finished in first, Walker 27th, that isn;t a great car, just a great driver.

I'd add, a great driver with a car that suited him but not his team mate... Probably. I wouldn't want to do Fittipaldi down but there must surely have been some other factor. I am guessing because I'm too young to remember (and I don't get to say that often ;))

Or is he just saying that you need money to get into F1 nowadays?
One's like Maldonado I dont mind, but the ****ty ones like Karthikeyan don't deserve a grid spot.

Well if he does get on the grid then at least we'll have a reason to go to China, and the FIA's superlicence committee might earn their pay for the first time since they curtailed Yuji Ide's glorious career....

The guy is Alex Yoong mk2, he was over two seconds slower than De La Rosa the other day even Max Chilton was within a second of Glock. And are the Chinese fans really going to go mad for a guy running right at the back the Indians certainly have not with Karthikeyan

Oh dear, it seems pay drivers are about to become more and more hated it seems.

I don't see why as long as they're good enough. Anyway, it's that same old argument: they're all pay drivers :emoticon-0118-yawn:

Looks like the Ma thing was just rumours and not confirmed. He did a PR thing where he was celebrating being in an F1 car for practices and people took that to mean he was celebrating getting a drive.

Valsecchi topped the final day of the YDT. I'm slightly disappointed with this years test. In recent years drivers were expected to match or better the quali time due to an insanely rubbered down track, but no-one really got near Hamilton's pole time. I s'pose it's partially down to the amount of components being tested but even so...

It isn't really a Young Drivers Test is it, it's just a late season car test with drivers on the periphery of F1 doing the testing, which was pretty much how it used to be. They should make all the drivers use the cars used on the Sunday with no new parts added.

This, especially given that Paffett and Prost are the wrong side of 30! It's a way for the FIA to re-introduce testing without it being explicit.

Pretty sure I would lose all faith in humanity if he were to get thrown out of the sport for swearing...I mean seriously, are curse words that big of a deal? Its not like he has been accidentally swearing all the time. He apologized and now it shouldn't be a big deal. I dunno, I think its silly, but maybe thats just me
