So, if Lewis is going to Mercedes - who fills the 2nd Mclaren seat. I'm big JB fan, but I think they need another big name performing driver in that seat - not just somebody to make up the numbers.

Massa? Going to a team like Mclaren that claims equality for their drivers could be the confidence boost he needs to help them in the Constructors', while if he is still not quick enough to challenge individually again then that will allow the team to freely back Button in the WDC.

    Please no...

di Resta if they want to keep the British thing otherwise I'd like to see Kobayashi in the 2nd McLaren seat, that or Bottas <whistle>

Bottas would be great! Also seeing as Mclaren have always been a welcoming team towards finns, but I think we need to be careful about taking what Jordan says as fact. I will only truly believe that Lewis has left Mclaren when he announces it himself

If Lewis left Mclaren then what about Alguesuari? Wasn't he considered by Mclaren to be their 3rd driver after De La Rosa left?

Straight swap with Rosberg? He's contractless right?

Why would Santander-sponsored McLaren want Pirelli test driver Alguersuari?

I think Rosberg's signed up to Mercedes until 2016.

You see I wanted to say Kobayashi, but thought that would be far too outlandish. Kobayashi in the second Mclaren seat would be fantastic!

I think he is a better option than Di Resta.

McLaren could pinch Perez if he feels his seat is now being covered by Seb.

Kobayashi would be brilliant, both on a driving and marketing level.

The guy can clearly drive, and it would help sell more McLaren supercars to rich japanese people.

Yep, I think he's a better option too. The thing I'm wondering though was about di Resta's split from Anthony Hamilton and these rumours that an FI driver has already signed a deal elsewhere for next year. What does it all mean? :emoticon-0138-think

It means Alguersuari will be driving for FI next season. And bookmark this comment, i'm that confident about it. I'm in the know.

If I keep reading this then I'm going to be convinced that it'll happen and be disappointed if it doesn't <wah>

    It won't happen unfortunately.

A big team wouldn't take a risk on a japanese driver because of the sterotype of them being a bit, ummm, wild. For every Kamui Kobayashi there are 3 Tora Takagi's.

I want to see Jaime back next season, FI would do nicely.

The fact he's spent a year analysing the tyres for Pirelli wouldn't hurt him either. Look at the boost vettel got last year, after his pre-season visit to Pirelli

If Hamilton goes to Mercedes then I think there is only one replacement. Kobayashi was made to be a Mclaren driver and a fledgling sports car manufacturer would do well to get an asian driver on board. <ok>
