Let's be honest, if Kerzhakov wasn't having such an awful match, Arshavin could've had a couple more assists in that match.

Exclusive - Parlour: Wenger must share blame for Arshavin failure
    http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...nger-must-share-blame-arshavin-failure-173991

Ray Parlour believes Arsene Wenger played Andrey Arshavin in the wrong position – and admits his Arsenal career is far from secure. The midfield playmaker was in superb form on Friday night as Russia got their Euro 2012 campaign off a great start with a 4-1 win over the Czech Republic in Group A. Arshavin, 31, has suffered a largely torrid time at the Emirates following his £16million move from Zenit St Petersburg in 2009, and he spent the last six months on loan at his former side after failing to secure a spot in Arsene Wenger’s first team.

But former Gunners favourite Parlour claims the Russian might not be completely to blame for his mixed fortunes in the Premier League. “You could say that he was played in the wrong position at Arsenal,” Parlour told the Weekend Sports Breakfast. “Arsene Wenger’s always played him on the left hand side and he’s more of a central player. “I’m sure Arsene will be watching and wondering why he couldn’t do that for Arsenal. He never played like that which is frustrating for the fans, Arsene Wenger and the players.” Arshavin looked set to leave Arsenal this summer following his successful loan return to his homeland and Parlour admits his future is far from clear.

“Let’s see what happens with him,” he said. “I’m not sure whether he’ll go back to Arsenal or they’ll try and sell him.”

Why didn't we play him more centrally when Fab and Nasri left? Is it that Wenger prefers Rosicky? He always seems to praise Rosicky and is a big fan of his. It's a shame as Arshavin should have been tried as a central attacking mid for us this season before shipping him off....

I think Arshavin was playing on pure adrenalin in the first 4 months and desire to prove his worth, even though left hand side position was killing him.. And by the end of the season he has proved it - the guy was named MOTM in most games he played, idolized by fans and largely thought of as a world class player and a great signing. So why then all of a sudden Arshavin has lost all his confidence, motivation, desire and chemistry he seemed to have had with his partners?? A top player can not just disintegrate the way Arshavin did without any reason, only to switch clubs and shine again immediately. There should be a reason.
I think he was right to expect from Wenger to finally move him to his natural position where he could fulfill his true potential. That place was occupied by Fabregas/Nasri. But then both Fab and Nasri left, and actually many fans, and I am sure Arshavin himself thought that Arsene would employ him there. But Arshavin was ignored and left on the flank. I think he was seriously disillusioned. he was played centrally twice in his Arsenal career - against Bolton in CC and against Birmingham in EPL - and he played brilliantly, we won both games btw.
I think Wenger brought Arshavin to save Arsenal season when there was a serious threat to miss on a CL place, and once Arshavin did hid job, Arsene turned away from him because he was preoccupied with his younger midfield players. His priority was to develop players who he thought were Arsenals' future. Like .. emm.. Nasri. He is a strategic thinker , Wenger, isn't he? Now Arsene has a new toy - he thinks Somg is a future playmaking star. I respect Wenger, but I have realized long ago that he does not like established players, he like players he has developed and turned into stars. Or at least players he THINKS he has developed. Arshavin is not this kind. But the truth is - Song will never be as good a playmaker as Arshavin could potentially be for Arsenal. Wenger has lost this potential - this is evident. He has lost Fabregas, Nasri and Arshavin.
